Job Title: Logistics Manager
Department: Operational Support
Reports To: Associate Director - Emergency Response
FLSA Status: Exempt

Travel Required: 30%

SUMMARY:

The Emergency Management Logistics manager is responsible for planning and implementing programs to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters. They work on developing operational capabilities to save lives and protect property. This role involves creating emergency preparedness plans and protocols, responding to incidents, and facilitating interagency collaboration. They will also perform advanced professional, administrative, supervisory and technical work supporting and assisting the Director with the daily operations of the Emergency Management (EM) department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fleet Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of our fleet, including acquisition, maintenance, repairs, and disposal. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Warehouse Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of 20 warehouses, ensuring efficient inventory management, order fulfillment, and timely deliveries.
  • Equipment Management: Implement asset tracking systems, monitor equipment utilization, and coordinate repairs and maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Aids and supports the Emergency Management Director, Deputy Director, as well as other Emergency Management Specialists, and other duties as assigned, to ensure that there is seamless delivery of services.
  • Maintains readiness of Emergency Operations Center so it can be quickly activated and fully operational in the event of emergencies or disasters.
  • Formulates operation procedures outlined in response plans for disasters or emergencies


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of policies and principles of emergency management and ability to apply this knowledge in varied work situations, planning, training, and exercises
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve outstanding results.
  • Knowledge of warehouse stocking or logistics
  • Knowledge of office equipment, software programs, and internet search functions
  • Knowledge of Emergency Operations Center (EOC) responsibilities and operations
  • Skill in organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to operate a forklift and other materials or management equipment
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to self-motivate, self-manage once given a task, adapt to change, and act as a team player
  • Ability to learn quickly and creatively solve problems Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, courteous working relationships with public officials, peers, other divisions and departments, and citizens
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in logistics management, with a proven track record of success in overseeing large-scale operations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
