Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic Logistics Development Specialist to join our Rancho Bernardo team. In this role, you'll play a critical part in shaping logistics strategies that support groundbreaking DoD products. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plans logistics strategies, and establishes standard logistics processes and tools for determining and acquiring the range and quantity of spare and repair parts, and support and test equipment required to operate and maintain an end item for a period of service.
  • Monitors contract logistics activities for compliance with standard processes.
  • Coordinates logistics activities for selected projects to develop and implement solutions that account for tradeoffs in component/system design, repair capability, training, demand history, statistical distributions and queuing theory.
  • Develops technical data using SlicWave applicable to technical manuals, provisioning data, Logistics Management Information, and obsolescence screening.
  • Develops logistics analysis products in relation to the data needed for the identification, selection, determination of initial requirements, and cataloging of support items.
  • Performs research, evaluation, and analysis to develop complete integrated logistics data to support programs using engineering drawings and manufacturers documentation as assigned
  • Compiles and evaluates test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications.
  • Plans projects involving definition and selection of new concepts, and approaches in the processing or development of new or improved processes to improve life cycle support costs.
  • Identifies logistics issues and participates in developing solutions to a variety of complex logistics problems to optimize costs and system performance requirements through various change management processes.
  • Participates in progress planning and review sessions to discuss costs, schedule, and technical performance.
  • Contributes to contract negotiations and contract modifications.
  • May contribute to the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract(s).
  • Query external government and commercial databases to review and modify logistics data. Additional Logistics Functions and Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and six or more years of progressive logistics management experience. Equivalent applicable experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of logistics information, configuration management concepts and principles and have proven experience broadly applying those concepts.
  • The ability to develop and communicate new concepts and apply them accurately.
  • The ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex logistics issues, including logistics management information, reliability and maintainability, and life-cycle support activities;
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences including senior management and senior external parties
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; and (5) excellent computer and documentation skills.
  • May lead a team of professional employees on assigned aspects of project(s).
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with DoD Integrated Product Support elements is a plus.
  • Experience working with Wind chill, SAP and using SLICwave for logistics management information (LMI) are highly desirable.
  • Experience with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) analysis, Spares management, and provisioning support
  • High mechanical aptitude, and an ability to read technical drawings are beneficial.
  • Experience in writing maintenance and fault isolation procedures.
  • Electrical experience and background are a plus.
  • Familiarity with Engineering Change process and its impact to Logistics product.
