The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Sustainment and Logistics (S4) at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida is searching for a Logistician (NH-0346-04, GS 14/15 equivalent).

Description:

As a Logistician, the candidate possesses a proven ability to plan, analyze, and coordinate complex acquisition systems and transition them seamlessly into operational use. This expertise includes identifying and correlating critical resource requirements-such as funding, manpower, materiel, facilities, and support services-to ensure complete program alignment and mission readiness. Leveraging data-driven insights, the candidate develops and evaluates product support objectives, maps out sustainment frameworks, and directly manages critical requirements including Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) and contract development to guarantee long-term operational success.

The ideal candidate is an industry expert operating at a key administrative or divisional leadership level, demonstrating a proven ability to monitor and report on program execution status directly to senior leadership. Under only general guidance, this professional autonomously leads the development of challenging, innovative programs and delivers authoritative, multidisciplinary solutions to highly complex problems that directly impact vital mission objectives and personnel well-being. A strong, strategic leader, the candidate is capable of communicating and integrating organizational vision, mission, and values into team goals while expertly guiding personnel and maintaining a solid foundation in safety, security, personnel management, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations. Finally, this individual possesses exceptional analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated capacity to gather program data, make sound judgments, utilize advanced software and databases, and deliver technically accurate, concise recommendations to both higher management and external contractors.

Key Skills and Abilities:

1. Knowledge of the product support and capability management principles, concepts, policies, laws, functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; Full understands execution sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve system problems; and all aspects of life cycle integrated support to the warfighter.

2. Ability to lead a team and/or individual members of a team ensuring the organization's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the teams ' strategies, goals, objectives, work plans, work products and services. Ability to advise/guide personnel and achieve organizational goals, objectives, and work plans. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of the missions, roles, function, organizational structures, and operation of the Department of War and other entities that govern, interface with, and/or influence the systems acquisition process and integrated life cycle management.

4. Skill in stratifying resources against approved programs; planning, presenting, and executing budgets; analyzing budget impacts on programs; forecasting long-term funding requirements; reviewing, evaluating, and presenting data; and supporting analysis of system management programs and activities' specialized documentation, etc.

5. Ability to plan, analyze, and coordinate a system or portion of a major system's acquisition and transfer into operational use; to include the identification and correlation of specific requirements for money, manpower, material, facilities, and services needed to support the program; and to develop and analyze data to determine product support objectives and goals, identify support requirements (including PPBE, contract development, and other technical support requirements), and establish relationships between the participants involved in deploying the plan.

6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, with technical accuracy and to use computers and a variety of software programs and databases. Gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning program progress, and effectively communicate recommendations orally and in writing to higher organizational management and contractors.

  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
  • This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
  • Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report." Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Employee may work extended or other than normal duty hours and may be subject to recall. Incumbent may work during base exercises, contingencies, or emergency situations and overtime/comp time/credit hours may be required to accomplish duties.
  • This position is designated a Critical APDP position.
  • Incentive is not authorized.

  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
