LNG Project Engineer: III | Beaumont & Sabine Pass, TX

Overview

Join our LNG Operating Company team as an LNG Project Engineer: III with an Instrumentation & Controls focus-supporting real-world projects in an operating LNG environment. This is a contract role (12+ months) where you'll manage scope, schedules, cost tracking, documentation, and field execution support, while coordinating directly with vendors, contractors, and internal operations and maintenance teams. Split between Beaumont (~30%) and Sabine Pass (~70%), you'll help drive projects through staged-gate progress and ensure modifications are correctly documented and released back to Operations in a timely manner.

Required Skills

  • Degree in engineering or technology and 12+ years of industry experience
  • Project engineering experience at an operating facility on small capital and expense projects, with the ability to handle multiple Instrumentation & Controls projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets and schedules within acceptable tolerances
  • Knowledge of equipment specification and procurement processes
  • General knowledge across multiple I&C areas, with expertise in at least one of the following:
    • Field Instrumentation & Controls
    • Actuated valve design and operations
    • Distributed Control Systems / Safety Systems / PLCs for packaged equipment
    • SmartPlant Instrumentation tool
    • Wireless technology and devices
    • HMI graphics development and deployment
    • Analyser systems and communications/telecommunications
    • Instrumentation cabling/wiring, junction boxes, power supply and distribution, UPS, and related TCP/IP, SCADA
    • Modbus networking (switches, routers, Ethernet, fiber optics, etc.) and transmission systems
  • Experience with loop checks, function checks (simple and complex), site acceptance testing, and troubleshooting discovered issues
  • Commissioning and startup planning/execution experience
  • Working knowledge of petrochemical industry safety work management systems
  • Strong HSE mindset: participates in HSE reviews, site observations, permit audits, and housekeeping inspections during field execution
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Bluebeam
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to coordinate effectively across teams and contractors
Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience performing and coordinating work related to Marine vessel loading infrastructure and related instrumentation
  • Deeper familiarity across additional I&C specialties beyond your primary expertise area
Preferred Education and Experience

  • Preferred: Engineering or technology degree
  • Experience level: Senior-level professional with 12+ years in LNG or closely related operating environments, including project engineering responsibilities in active facilities
Other Requirements

  • Location: split time between Edison Plaza, Beaumont, TX (~30%) and Terminal, Sabine Pass, TX (~70%)
  • Work schedule: M-F, 40+ hours/week
  • Duration: 12+ months
  • Compensation: $88.00/hour (contract)
  • Primary expectation: support the LNG Operating Company and coordinate field activities, permits, commissioning, startup, and documentation updates
