Nossaman LLP is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to support the Firm's Litigation practice. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for providing case management, administrative, and secretarial support to assigned attorneys. The ideal candidate will have extensive litigation experience, a working knowledge of the federal, state, and county court systems and be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite. The position will be hybrid (onsite 2+ days per week) in our San Francisco office and will report to the Legal Support Services Supervisor.
The hourly range for the position of Legal Secretary at Nossaman is approximately $46.16 and $58.98 an hour. The successful candidate's annual compensation for this position is reasonably expected to be set between $90,000 and $115,000 per year. However, actual compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including, without limitation, the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Key Responsibilities- Support a team of litigation attorneys in various litigation groups.
- Prepare and format pleadings, motions, briefs, and other complex legal documents using advanced Microsoft Word skills.
- Manage state and federal court filings and coordinate with the firm's docketing team to meet critical deadlines.
- Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, trial logistics, attorney calendars, and travel arrangements.
- Assist with client intake, billing activities, electronic file management, and day-to-day practice support.
- Partner with attorneys and colleagues in a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on exceptional client service
Experience & Qualifications: - High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of litigation legal secretary experience.
- Strong knowledge of California state and federal court rules, procedures, and e-filing systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills, including styles, formatting, tables of contents, and tables of authorities.
- Experience supporting multiple attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice.
- Excellent organizational, proofreading, and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and adapt during busy trial periods.
- Experience with legal technology platforms such as iManage, Litera, Aderant, Emburse, or similar systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to client service, professionalism, and teamwork.
- Type a minimum of 60+ WPM.
