Job Description:

The Litigation Docketing Supervisor will support the docketing of our litigation matters firm-wide in a timely and accurate fashion. This position will also serve as the point person for all litigation docketing-related issues. The Litigation Docketing Supervisor will work closely with the Docketing Director in assessing and adapting workflows and processes to make the Litigation Docketing Team more efficient. This position will help to formulate and implement best practices as well as provide up-to-date information to the Litigation Docketing Team regarding any changes to the litigation practice in the U.S.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These essential functions are primary job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation.
  • Assist in coordinating the docketing process.
  • Monitor and balance workload in assigned email boxes.
  • Enter and update docket entries daily according to the firm's docketing policies and standards.
  • Produce various docket reports upon request.
  • Troubleshoot docket concerns and issues.
  • Monitor client closures and perform docket system cleanup of related entries as appropriate.
  • Provide ongoing information and technical support to attorneys, legal staff and administrative staff throughout the firm concerning the specific policies and general mechanics relating to the litigation docketing process.
  • Provide suggestions to revise policy and procedure where necessary. Create and provide training for new team members and coordinate training for the group where needed.
  • Act as primary contact for training new staff on the firm's litigation docketing procedures and reviewing others' work to ensure accuracy in litigation docketing entries and compliance with firm procedures.
  • Stay current of the varying litigation processes throughout the U.S.
  • Process mail and docket activities in accordance with firm policy and procedure.
  • Work with the Docketing Director to evaluate Litigation Docketing Team performance and help resolve disciplinary issues.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Be present at work during regularly scheduled working hours and as needed in the position, consistent with the firm's attendance expectations.


SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Manage multiple details, prioritize and work well under pressure.
  • Possess the ability to function effectively as a team while maintaining accuracy of detail.
  • Be skilled at interacting with all levels of firm personnel with professionalism. The ideal candidate will be able to accurately type 55 words per minute and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A strong command of the English language including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation and knowledge of firm's form and style as well as a working knowledge of federal and state rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of litigation docketing or relevant litigation support or database experience, or equivalent, required.
  • Experience with docketing software such as CompuLaw and CourtAlert required.
  • Experience in a law firm is preferred.
  • Experience in a leadership role within a large, multi-office law firm is preferred.

The listed compensation range reflects the typical pay for this role, though it is rare for new hires to receive an offer at the top of the range. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity.

San Francisco Bay Area compensation range: $119,000 to $180,870 annually

Colorado compensation range: $93,240 to $141,710 annually

Illinois compensation range: $98,400 to $149,550 annually

Los Angeles compensation range: $108,510 to $165,030 annually

San Diego compensation range: $107,200 to $162,930 annually

New York compensation range: $108,190 to $164,430 annually

Washington state compensation range: $98,350 to $149,480 annually

Washington, D.C. compensation range: $106,220 to $161,440 annually
