Full Job Description
Merani Kamara Law Group is a fast-paced, high-volume litigation firm. We are looking for a mid-level associate attorney to support our collections and insurance litigation practices. We handle large volumes of litigation in aggressive but cost-effective manners for our clients with extensive experience in the practice areas. Our attorneys have real responsibility and real client impact from day one.

This role is a great opportunity for attorneys who want to hit the ground running so they can accelerate their careers as a litigator with ongoing training in a collegial environment. Candidates with strong litigation experience outside of the courtroom are encouraged to apply - we're hiring for ability, work ethic, and mindset first.

This role is onsite and will include court appearances. Compensation depends on experience but the range is expected to be between $100k - $140k with bonus potential based on performance. We also offer great benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Competitive Salary, and Paid Time Off.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage cases independently through all stages of the litigation lifecycle
  • Appear in court regularly and handle matters with meaningful autonomy
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and proposed judgments
  • Make decisions about your own motions and case handling with the support of partners, paralegals, and legal assistants.
  • Receive and apply feedback constructively - we have high standards and we'll help you meet them
  • Maintain clear, professional communication across the team and with clients
  • Review evidentiary materials and case files to identify key facts and legal issues
  • Apply strong analytical and writing skills to produce polished, accurate work product
  • Organize and maintain case files for accuracy and accessibility
  • Support e-filing and document management processes
  • Utilize Excel and other tools to track deadlines, case materials, and deliverables
  • Conduct legal research using recognized platforms and prepare case law summaries
Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of practice experience in a law firm or relevant in-house legal department (required)
  • New York Bar admission (required). Admission as an attorney to other states including NJ or PA are also welcome.
  • Courtroom and litigation experience strongly preferred - collections or insurance litigation background is a plus, but we'll invest in the right litigator
  • Demonstrated ability or willingness to manage cases in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Sense of urgency and client focus - you treat deadlines seriously and communicate proactively
  • Process-oriented and organized - proficiency with legal research tools, document management systems, and Microsoft Excel
  • Entrepreneurial mindset - you want to help shape a growing firm, not just fill a seat
  • Critical thinker who looks at the situation to develop effective legal strategies for the client
  • Ability to pass applicable background checks
  • Willingness to work onsite with desire to build a career as a litigator
