Department Information

This is a term-limited senior level position that leads and provides system-wide high quality project management services to the University System of Georgia (USG) Unified ERP Program through the entire program lifecycle, applying a consistent organizational approach, within the USG Project Management Office. The Unified ERP Program is a Workday implementation spanning Finance, HR/Payroll, and related technology, organizational change management, and service delivery functions, delivered across all USG institutions within a single, shared Workday platform.

Job Summary

This is a senior professional level position responsible for working with personnel in higher education system divisions and departments to develop, monitor, and manage large scale projects. The position will design all components and phases of the project and communicate project statuses to stakeholders and decision makers. This position generally possesses the authority to assemble project staff members and manage project budgets and resources.

Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day project management services to support the implementation of the USG Unified ERP Program through the entire project lifecycle, applying a consistent organizational approach and utilizing researched based best practices, standards and approaches, such as the PMI standard.

Leads, directs, and manages projects; liaises with external and internal customers to develop project goals, plans, scope of work, requirements, and timeframes.

Works with appropriate Strategic Implementation representatives, USG Unified ERP Program representatives, USG stakeholders, institution stakeholders, and other external entities to recommend and implement appropriate governance structure, assemble project team, identify needed resources, develop plans, outline scope of work, identify project budget, assign responsibilities and develop timeframe for successful completion of project.

Works directly with program team members and leads to estimate effort, plan activities, develop a project schedule and develop consensus among team members on their appointed tasks.

Leads and mobilizes resources and assigns team members for project execution; monitors project progress and status.

Organizes and works cooperatively and effectively with cross functional teams.

Executes project plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

Monitors and tracks project scope, costs, schedule, actions, decisions, risks and issues and recommends changes to project, including corrective actions as needed.

Effectively communicates project goals, progress, concerns, issues and risks to appropriate internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.

Develops project processes and procedures.

Prepares weekly projects reports; project-specific forecasting content and metrics reports to include executive dashboard reports as needed.

Facilitates meetings with executive leadership, senior management, and project team; providing project updates, oversight for resolving issues, escalates issues as needed.

Effectively communicates project goals, progress, concerns, issues and risks to appropriate internal and external stakeholders in a timely manner.

Provides recommendations on project workflow improvement.

Attends meetings, conferences and continuing education events.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and over five years or related experience required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Requires extensive knowledge of project management methodology based upon PMI standards.
  • Requires excellent people skills, self-starter, ability to work in a group or independently and negotiation skills.
  • Must be able to travel to various locations within the State of Georgia in supporting institutions, attending meetings, conferences, etc.
  • May require occasional out-of-state travel.
  • Has proficiency with project management software.
  • Has knowledge of various analysis and reporting tools.
  • Has knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Has knowledge of best practices in higher education.
  • Applicant should have a bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • PMP certification required.
  • Over 5 years of project management experience.
