Full Job Description
The Lifecycle Marketing Manager reporting to the Director of Audience Engagement, is a customer-centric problem solver directly responsible for executing in-service and post-service marketing strategies that drive retention, engagement, and revenue. In this role, you'll create compelling experiences across key touchpoints in the customer journey - ensuring our customers feel supported, inspired, and valued every step of the way.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Engage customers to take the next best action towards critical publishing milestones.
  • Pitch your ideas and bring them to life - you're a key contributor to our lifecycle strategy.
  • Maintain key journey maps to inform loyalty and retention strategy, and optimize programs driving various engagement KPIs.
  • Maintain lifecycle marketing program alignment to roadmap and business objectives.
  • Identify and define customer segments and journeys to foster a personalized experience that maximizes engagement.
  • Develop, execute, and refine multi-channel retention marketing campaigns across company-wide touchpoints.
  • Develop reporting dashboards and track KPIs to measure effectiveness of lifecycle initiatives and communicate a go-forward recommendation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, competitor intelligence, marketing best practices, and emerging technologies.

What you're great at:
  • Strong data analytical skills and Excel competency to develop actionable strategies.
  • Proficiency in driving engagement metrics throughout the marketing lifecycle.
  • Deep understanding of customer behavior and audience segmentation.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts, language, and processes into easily digestible communications.

What we're looking for:
  • 5+ years of experience in customer marketing and retention strategy required.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or related discipline required. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience with marketing automation software: ESPs, CDPs, and CRMs required.
  • Experience delivering multichannel strategies (ex: in-product messaging, email nurture, SMS, website, ads, prompts, etc.) required.
  • Experience with A/B testing and proactively recommending optimizations required.
  • Experience creating content and assets, and knowledge of design principles required.
  • Experience in academic publishing focused on author marketing during the manuscript submission journey is a plus.
  • User experience (UX) and/or design thinking experience is a plus.
  • Experience with customer research, journey mapping, and loyalty programs is a plus.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $100,000

At AIPP, we offer competitive compensation based on the role, experience, and other relevant factors. Under the New York Convenience Rule, all employees, regardless of their residence in other states, will be taxed at the New York State tax rate. Employees may also have additional state-specific tax obligations depending on where they live.
