Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Second circulator with a first circulator RN present in the OR.
- Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Collaborates with all members of the health care team.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection control policies, medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substances regulations.
- Documents patient care appropriately in the medical record.
- Participates cooperatively and communicates effectively with team members
- Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and participating in professional societies.
- Participates in educational programs as required.
- Assists with the orientation and support for new staff to the facility.
- Performs related duties as assigned by leader.
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:- Completion of an accredited licensed practical nurse education program combined with 2 - 3 years recent experience in acute care day surgery/inpatient surgery environment.
- Active/eligible for registration and practice permit with the British Columbia College of Nursing Professionals.
- Completion of a post-secondary educational institution perioperative nursing program.
- Criminal record check dated within one month of hire.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment.
- Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex integrated team.
- Ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time.
- The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful and/or emergent situations is essential.
- Excellent assessment, organization, communication and team interaction skills.
- Current immunization for hepatitis B, influenza, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, and diphtheria.
- Current tuberculin skin testing (within 6 months before date of hire).
