Full Job Description
We are seeking a Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE) with strong HVAC and MEP design experience to lead the mechanical engineering and design of commercial building projects. This is a hands-on technical engineering role, not a project management position. The successful candidate will take ownership of mechanical systems from initial design and calculations through construction documentation and construction administration.

Projects may include healthcare, veterinary, commercial, municipal, institutional, and other specialized facilities. The ideal candidate is a technically strong Professional Engineer who can work independently while collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams.
Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical engineering designs for commercial, healthcare, veterinary, municipal, and institutional facilities
  • Design HVAC and other mechanical building systems in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, equipment selections, specifications, and construction documents
  • Serve as the Engineer of Record and provide technical oversight and engineering judgment throughout the design process
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, electrical, structural, plumbing, and other disciplines
  • Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and other technical documentation during construction
  • Conduct site visits to verify existing conditions, monitor construction progress, and address field issues
  • Identify constructability concerns and develop practical engineering solutions
  • Support inspections, punch-list activities, owner training, commissioning, and project closeout
  • Maintain technical quality and ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements

Requirements
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience; 10+ years preferred
  • Strong hands-on experience designing HVAC, mechanical, and/or MEP systems for commercial buildings
  • Experience with healthcare, veterinary, institutional, municipal, or similarly complex facilities strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of engineering calculations, construction documents, equipment selection, specifications, and applicable building codes
  • Ability to independently develop, review, and approve engineering designs
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with architects and multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Hands-on engineering and design experience required
  • Candidates whose experience is primarily project management without significant mechanical design experience will not be considered

Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health insurance and retirement plan options
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Opportunity to work on diverse and technically challenging building projects
  • Collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment
  • Professional development and long-term career growth opportunities
