Overview
The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a Licensed Clinical Psychologist to join our Psychology Department. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive psychological services within an inpatient behavioral health setting while working alongside psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, counselors, Behavioral Health Technicians, and Creative Arts Therapists.
The Licensed Clinical Psychologist provides psychological evaluations, psychological testing, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, family interventions, crisis intervention, behavioral assessments, and interdisciplinary treatment planning for adults experiencing acute psychiatric illness, serious mental illness, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.

Important: All new hires must be able to attend a mandatory five-day orientation Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM prior to beginning their regular work schedule.
Responsibilities
Psychotherapy
• Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and clinical interviews
• Provide evidence-based individual psychotherapy
• Facilitate psychotherapy groups utilizing cognitive, behavioral, supportive, psychoeducational, and process-oriented treatment approaches
• Conduct family therapy and family support interventions
• Develop individualized treatment recommendations based on clinical findings
• Participate in community meetings and therapeutic milieu interventions
• Provide crisis intervention and behavioral consultation as needed
• Assist patients in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, social functioning, and community reintegration skills
Psychological Assessment
• Administer, score, interpret, and document psychological assessments
• Conduct cognitive, intelligence, personality, and neuropsychological testing
• Prepare comprehensive psychological evaluation reports
• Present assessment findings and treatment recommendations to the interdisciplinary treatment team
• Utilize psychological testing to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and discharge recommendations
Interdisciplinary Care
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, Behavioral Health Technicians, and Creative Arts Therapists
• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
• Develop individualized treatment plans and behavioral interventions
• Support continuity of care throughout hospitalization
• Contribute to unit programming and behavioral health initiatives
Education & Supervision
• Provide supervision and mentoring to psychology practicum students and psychology interns as assigned
• Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives
• Support psychology internship and practicum training activities
• Maintain professional documentation and clinical records within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Qualifications
Education
• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.), or Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Psychology from an accredited institution required
• Completion of a one-year supervised clinical internship required
• American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) certification preferred
Licensure
• Current Pennsylvania license issued by the State Board of Psychology required
Experience
• Minimum of one year of post-doctoral clinical psychology experience preferred
• Experience in inpatient psychiatry, behavioral health, psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, correctional mental health, substance use treatment, or related clinical settings strongly preferred
• One year of postdoctoral residency may be substituted for one year of experience
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Strong knowledge of psychopathology, psychological assessment, and evidence-based psychotherapy
• Experience administering and interpreting psychological assessments
• Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team
• Strong interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications
Work Environment
This position is based within a secure inpatient behavioral health hospital and requires direct interaction with adults experiencing acute psychiatric illness, serious mental illness, and co-occurring behavioral health conditions. Psychologists must be able to respond effectively to behavioral health crises while maintaining professionalism, therapeutic boundaries, and ethical standards. Flexible scheduling may be required to meet departmental needs.
