Note: $2,500 Signing Bonus for Licensed AMEs & Earn $2,500 per Endorsement (up to 5).

Location: YHM 9500 Airport Road, Mount Hope (Hamilton), Ontario Canada L0R 1W0

JOB OVERVIEW

The Shift Lead is a front-line crew leader with a proven technical background and is responsible to supervise a crew in fulfilling project requirements. The Shift Lead is expected to demonstrate effective and efficient crew leadership, project management skills, customer service orientation, and technical proficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The AME-E is expected to be able to demonstrate his/her capability to understand and perform the following functions under minimal supervision:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical
• Accurately identify, obtain, use and test appropriate tools for the jobs. Able to make recommendations as to effectiveness of tools available.
• Complete daily inspection
• Receive and depart aircraft
• Perform component changes
• Familiar with and capable of safely operating all ground equipment
• Familiar with functional operation of all aircraft systems (Avionics, Electrical, Flight Control, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, etc.)
• Able to troubleshoot aircraft systems in a timely manner
• Clear up log book snags
• Perform independent critical and non-critical systems checks
• Able to release aircraft for flight

Supervision and Developing Others
• Planning, organizing, prioritizing and assigning work
• Ensuring quality and quantity of crew's work
• Ensuring accurate use of time cards and project numbers.
• Ensuring time keeping information is accurate and current
• Ensuring maintenance mechanics are provided with training and development in the areas of Safety, Documentation and Project Maintenance
• Creating and maintaining a positive work environment.
• Providing coaching and feedback to employees, addressing employee performance issues and conducting performance appraisals.
• Supporting employees in conflict resolution
• Supporting employees in effective team interaction and personal growth.
• Keeping employees informed regarding company developments
• Conducting interview process of new hires when required.
• Working with HR on discipline issues.

Safety
• Ensuring safe work practices, policies and procedures are followed including compliance with personal protective equipment requirements
• Understanding and applying the Risk Management System
• Maintaining good housekeeping standards
• Understanding and applying safe handling practices with the aircraft
• Ensuring crew has all required safety training including equipment operation
• Actively seeking opportunities to improve the safety of the crew

Project Management
• Understanding and applying project management skills to track progress and make adjustments as required in consultation with project coordinator.
• Conducting crew meetings to inform and update the crew as to the status of the project and other relevant information. Involve the crew in problem solving and trouble shooting.
• Initiating interdepartmental, cross shift or intra-trade communication to ensure project moves ahead according to schedule
• Dealing with customer reps and ensuring positive customer relations

Other

May be required at times to act as Project Supervisor

Tool Control

  • Complies with the KF Tool Control policy found in Production Manual Section 10-1


REQUIREMENTS

Certification & Experience
  • Transport Canada 'E' license
  • The AME-E has a minimum of 2+ year's experience


Skills

  • Ability to learn and understand KF organizational systems and workflow
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team

  • Willing to pursue type endorsements with recommendation of Shift Lead

  • Working knowledge of the types of aircraft supported by KF

Up to 9 AME's, AME apprentices and contractors

  • Must be physically fit
  • Flexibility to work any type of shift


Transport Canada Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (with at least 2 years of experience) shift leads start at $47.94 hourly wage. Plus an additional ACA pay(up to $4.50/hr)
