Position Description
INTERVIEWS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 28, 2026
The Fresno County Public Library invites applications for the position of Librarian III. The incumbent is responsible for performing the more difficult and specialized professional librarian services in various functional areas including adult, young adult, and children's' library services; historical program services; and business and public relations services.

This position will be part of the Community Services Team. The Community Services Team is an ever-changing and fast-paced group that oversees county-wide programming and outreach campaigns. In this position, the incumbent must be willing to work outside standard branch hours and at a variety of locations throughout Fresno County. An ideal candidate would have excellent project management skills, outstanding customer service skills, stellar public speaking abilities, and demonstrated ability to be a team player in a collaborative setting.
Please note: The incumbent must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends (including Sundays).

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in Library Science that is acceptable within the United States accredited college or university system.

Experience: Three (3) years of full-time, paid professional librarian experience.

License: Possession of a valid California Class "C" Driver's License may be required.

Possession of a valid California Class "B" Driver's License may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Should a recruitment be open on a continuous basis, eligibles shall be certified in the order they are received not to exceed the maximum certification the department is entitled to.
