Full Job Description
Skills and Competencies
  • 12-15 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, record-to-report operations, and period-end close activities within global, multi-entity organizations
  • Expertise in US GAAP, IFRS, lease accounting, capitalization policies, depreciation, impairment assessments, asset retirement obligations, internal controls, and financial compliance requirements
  • Experience leading global accounting teams, including management of senior leaders and oversight of onshore and offshore service delivery models
  • Experience operating within shared services and captive finance environments, supporting enterprise accounting processes and controls
  • Proven ability to design and implement scalable accounting controls, performance metrics, and governance processes that support compliance and operational effectiveness
  • Experience partnering with Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Real Estate, Technology, Audit, and external auditors to address complex accounting matters and support business priorities
  • Demonstrated success leading finance transformation initiatives, including system implementations, process standardization, automation, data governance, and operating model enhancements
  • Proficiency leveraging AI-enabled tools and advanced technologies to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and decision support; inhibits growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent strongly preferred; Master's degree a plus

Responsibilities

Strategic finance leader responsible for enterprise-wide capital assets and lease accounting, delivering accurate reporting, strong governance and operational excellence.
  • Serve as the enterprise-wide owner of Capital Assets & Lease Accounting, providing strategic leadership and final decision authority for fixed assets, lease accounting, leasehold improvements, construction-in-progress (CIP), asset retirement obligations (ARO), lease cash clearing, and related close processes
  • Oversee end-to-end execution of Capital Assets & Lease Accounting activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting across multiple entities and jurisdictions
  • Lead global period-end and quarter-end close activities, driving adherence to accounting policies, reporting deadlines, internal controls, and risk management expectations
  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks and a robust control environment for capitalization and lease accounting, ensuring audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and high-quality documentation
  • Serve as the primary executive contact for internal and external auditors, leading discussions related to accounting judgments, methodologies, controls, financial reporting, and remediation activities
  • Partner closely with the Global Process Owner for Record-to-Report, FP&A, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Real Estate, Technology, and other stakeholders to resolve complex accounting matters, mitigate risks, and drive informed decision-making
  • Lead and develop a global Capital Assets & Lease Accounting organization, fostering accountability, talent development, operational excellence, and a continuous improvement mindset
  • Drive standardization, process optimization, automation, and transformation initiatives that enhance scalability, governance, efficiency, and reporting integrity across the enterprise

About the Team

Our Capital Assets & Lease Accounting team is responsible for providing enterprise-wide oversight of fixed asset and lease accounting activities to support accurate financial reporting, strong governance, and compliance across Moody's.

The team drives financial integrity through effective accounting operations, maintains a robust control environment and audit readiness, and partners across Finance, Treasury, Real Estate, Technology, and shared service organizations to continuously improve processes and reporting.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $135,700.00 - $196,750.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
