Full Job Description
The Opportunity
This role can either be located in our NYC or Bethesda, MD office.

The Analyst will join Ally's Lender Finance team and support the management of a portfolio of financing facilities provided to private credit funds, business development companies, specialty finance companies, and other alternative asset managers. The role offers significant exposure to portfolio management, credit underwriting and deal execution while working closely with experienced professionals across the platform. This position provides a unique opportunity to develop expertise in private credit, fund finance, asset-based lending, and structured credit through participation in both ongoing portfolio oversight and new transaction originations.
The Work Itself

  • Support the ongoing portfolio management, credit monitoring, and risk oversight of warehouse and back-leverage facilities provided to private credit funds, business development companies, specialty finance companies, and other alternative asset managers.
  • Review monthly borrowing bases, collateral reporting, compliance certificates, financial statements, amendment requests, and new collateral eligibility to ensure ongoing compliance with facility requirements.
  • Analyze underlying loan portfolios to assess collateral composition, borrower performance, leverage and other key credit metrics.
  • Review loan tapes and calculate borrowing base availability by applying eligibility criteria, collateral value adjustments, advance rates, concentration limits, reserves, and minimum equity requirements.
  • Prepare periodic portfolio reviews and risk assessments that summarize facility performance, portfolio trends, emerging risks, and recommended actions for internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with senior team members to evaluate new lender finance opportunities from initial screening through approval, documentation, closing, and post-close onboarding.
  • Evaluate asset managers' investment strategies, underwriting processes, servicing capabilities, track records, historical portfolio performance, and ability to manage through changing credit environments.
  • Conduct transaction due diligence by reviewing fund and borrower financial statements, investment memoranda, underlying credit agreements, portfolio performance data, servicing procedures, and third-party diligence reports.
  • Prepare investment approval materials that clearly explain the asset manager, investment strategy, collateral portfolio, facility structure, borrowing base, key risks, mitigating factors, and credit recommendation.
  • Develop expertise in private credit markets, leveraged lending, fund finance, and Ally's lender finance credit standards through active participation in both portfolio management and live transaction execution.
  • Leverage data, technology, and AI-enabled tools to improve loan-tape analysis, portfolio monitoring, underwriting efficiency, and reporting processes.

The Skills You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Analytics or a related field. Coursework, internship experience, or exposure to credit analysis, investments, lending, financial modeling, or capital markets is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate detailed portfolio and structural analysis into a clear credit recommendation.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines in a transaction-oriented environment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to develop expertise in private credit, fund finance, and structured lending markets.
  • Sound judgment, a high level of accountability, and a willingness to raise questions or emerging credit concerns.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with colleagues across originations, portfolio management, credit, legal, operations, and capital markets teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with financial modeling, database tools, data visualization platforms, programming languages, or AI-enabled analytical tools is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience
  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent
