Salary: $100,000 - $130,000/year dependent on experience.
This full-time role will report directly to the
Chief Legal Officer.
What You'll DoLitigation & Dispute Management- Assist in the defense of employment-related litigation, including wrongful termination, wage and hour, PAGA, and other workplace matters with the goal of handling such claims on your own
- Assist in the defense of construction defect claims, OSHA citations, collections matters, and other legal disputes, with the goal of handling such claims on your own
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy and business decisions
- Gather, organize, and review documents for case preparation and legal proceedings
- Monitor case progress and provide updates to internal stakeholders
Legal Advisory & Business Partnership- Partner with business leaders and field personnel to identify and address potential legal risks
- Provide practical legal guidance that supports operational and strategic objectives
- Research legal issues impacting day-to-day business activities and long-term initiatives
- Support and collaborate with:
- Operations and field leadership
- Human Resources
- Executive leadership and business stakeholders
- Assist with evaluating legal implications of business decisions and operational practices
Risk Management & Compliance- Help ensure compliance with legal, contractual, corporate, and risk management policies
- Identify opportunities to reduce organizational risk and strengthen business processes
- Assist with responses to regulatory inquiries and legal matters
- Support litigation strategy discussions and recommendations with internal and external partners
Policies, Documentation & Knowledge Management- Maintain and update:
- Legal policies and procedures
- Corporate compliance documentation
- Litigation and case management records
- Support compliance, audit, reporting, and knowledge-sharing efforts across teams
External Counsel & Case Coordination- Coordinate with outside counsel on ongoing legal matters
- Manage document requests, gather information, and case-related communications
- Assist with subpoena responses and other legal information requests
- Support projects and special assignments as business needs evolve
Drive Innovation- Stay current on emerging trends, tools, and best practices within employment law, construction litigation, compliance, and corporate legal operations
- Support strategic initiatives, process improvements, and organizational enhancements
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the Legal Department
What You BringExperience & Education- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree or equivalent legal education required
- 0-2 years of relevant legal experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Exposure to employment laws and litigation, construction laws and litigation, compliance, or regulatory matters is preferred
- Experience conducting legal research, writing, and issue analysis
Technical SkillsYou bring experience across a range of tools, systems, and technologies, including:
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Legal research platforms and online legal resources
- Document management and case tracking systems
- Business communication and collaboration tools
Bonus points if you have experience with:- Employment law matters
- Construction industry legal issues
- OSHA, regulatory, or compliance-related matters
Certifications- California Bar License preferred
- Admission to practice law in another state is a plus
- Additional legal, compliance, or risk management certifications are advantageous
