Full Job Description
The Legal Counsel, Litigation will be on the front lines ensuring that the Equifax is adequately protected in response to legal matters. The Counsel will staff a caseload of Fair Credit Reporting Act lawsuits in various courts (including federal, state, and small claims) against Equifax. Reporting to the Senior Litigation Counsel, you will work with the Equifax Legal Team in our headquarters in Midtown Atlanta.

What you'll do
  • Partner with internal business units as a trusted advisor to identify risk, implement litigation prevention strategies, and address regulatory compliance changes.
  • Work independently, with paralegal and litigation operations support, to direct legal strategy and defense for assigned litigation matters.
  • Review complaint allegations, draft motions and pleadings, evaluate liability, and manage high-volume litigation dockets efficiently.
  • Partner with outside counsel on discovery, deposition preparation, trial strategies, and fee management.
  • Oversee e-discovery processes, document collections, and legal hold implementations for litigation and regulatory inquiries.
  • Represent Equifax in dispute resolution, mediations, and settlement negotiations where appropriate.
  • Maintain accountability for consumer litigation and pre-litigation disputes across the United States.
    Travel up to 25% of the time.


What experience you need
  • 5+ years of litigation experience as a practicing attorney within a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act(FCRA) and federal/state consumer protection statutes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex litigation, e-discovery, and dispute resolution.
  • Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active state bar license in good standing.

  • Familiarity with state consumer privacy laws and consumer regulatory agencies (e.g., CFPB).
