Reporting to the Director, Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel provides a variety of practical, business focused legal services aimed at supporting the day-to-day activities and global operations of KDC/One and its subsidiaries in the areas of commercial and contract law. The Legal Counsel serves as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
Essential Responsibilities:- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of strategic commercial agreements;
- Support international acquisitions, transactions, and financing projects;
- Identify risks and participate in the development of legal solutions, namely with regard to applicable laws and regulations;
- Advise business teams on various KDC/One commercial and strategic challenges in their daily operations;
- Develop and improve contract templates, document automation, and legal processes;
- Participate in various special company projects as a representative of the legal team;
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel;
- Perform all other legal tasks related to KDC/One's activities.
Ideal candidate:- Bachelor of Law and member of a North American Bar;
- University degree in Finance, Commerce or Business Administration will be considered an asset;
- 3 to 5 years of post-call experience in commercial or corporate law, gained in private practice or an in-house legal department;
- Fluent in English and French (written and spoken);
- Proven ability to negotiate, influence and persuade others;
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills;
- Capacity to prioritize and manage competing priorities, and deliver under tight timelines;
- Strong business acumen and the ability to provide practical, risk-based legal advice;
- Experience with contract lifestyle management systems, legal technology, or document automation, as well as experience in the in the manufacturing and beauty industries will be considered an asset.
