  • Research live event trends, including minors' participation issues.
  • Oversee contract administration and document management.
  • Enhance policies to ensure safety and compliance for all academy events.

Position Summary:
The Legal Counsel, Events role will focus on the events, facilities, and sponsorship business IMG Academy. The ideal candidate has extensive transactional experience at a top law firm or in-house with a specialty in sports law and/or live events.

Position Responsibilities
  • Drafting and negotiating sponsorship, event, facility-use, appearance, vendor and other agreements, primarily in connection with hosting sporting events
  • Providing real-time advice on business and legal issues relating to live events and preparatory boarding school related issues, including interpretation and enforcement of contracts and policies
  • Drafting and managing registration forms and releases
  • Familiarity with drafting and reviewing construction and facility management agreements
  • Researching and staying up to date on the latest trends and issues for live events, including the participation of minors in live events
  • Efficiently managing contract-administration and document-management processes
  • Implementing and refining policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant environment for student-athletes, campers, event participants, and guests of IMG Academy
  • Supporting other members of the IMG Academy Legal Team, as needed.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Minimum 5 years' experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and specialization in sporting events, facilities, and sponsorships.
  • Must be a member of the Florida Bar or become a member through "Authorized House Counsel" status within twelve months of employment.
  • Exceptional drafting, investigation, negotiation, and organizational skills with a proficiency in AI
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of personalities and styles in a fast-paced business environment
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, creative problem-solving abilities and a practical business-oriented viewpoint
  • Detail-oriented, ability to "own" multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize and produce quality work within deadlines
  • Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality, proactive and highly team-oriented approach to work
