Purpose:Temporary (18 months)

Note: More than one position may be filled

Internal "Process A"

Responsibilities:

Under the direction of Field Services Coordinator(s), this position may work alone &/or lead the work of a small crew engaged in the construction, repair, maintenance, testing, locating and commissioning of electrical facilities. In addition to the duties associated with the Journeyman Power Line Technician, the Lead Hand will be accountable for:

  • Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations

  • Ensuring and promoting the safety of crew and others under their direction

  • Instructing, training and mentoring apprentices and journeyman on ENMAX policies and procedures

  • Ensuring proper care and use of vehicles, equipment and worksite(s) under their direction

  • Ensuring employees under their direction are adhering to applicable policies and procedures, taking corrective action where necessary

  • Ensuring the completion and accuracy of all reports &/or documents associated with the work completed under their direction. These may include, but are not limited to tailboards, material requisitions, time reporting, As-Builts, Maximo Work Orders, as well as Maximo Incident and Hazard capture.

  • Use of Infra-red equipment to identify problem areas and generate reports so that repairs can be made.

  • Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment and work sites

  • Other duties as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must meet ENMAX Corporations requirements as to qualifications and must be qualified under the Alberta Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship Education Act with respect to the related electrical trade

  • Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)

  • Must have worked as a Journeyperson Powerline Technician for twenty-four (24) months within the last 5 years.

  • Must have a valid Province of Alberta drivers license, upgrade as required

  • Must be willing to upgrade qualifications as required

Salary: $72.36per hour (2026Collective Agreement rates)

Shift: Regular Days: 7:00 am 6 4:00 pm

Location: Field Services Depot (2020 Center Ave NE Calgary)
