About the Job

Job Title: Interim Director of Emergency Services

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced, high-visibility Interim

Director of Emergency Services to provide executive leadership across multiple Emergency Departments within a large, high-volume health system (including a Level 1 Trauma Center). In this role, you will oversee a large team of healthcare professionals, optimize ED operating rhythms, drive clinical workflow and triage process improvements, and strengthen relationships between emergency services and inpatient leadership.

Key Goals & Primary Responsibilities:

  • Executive Leadership & Mentorship: Provide strong, visible leadership across multiple ED locations; coach, mentor, and support unit-level managers and emerging nursing leaders.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze and optimize ED workflow and triage procedures to drive operational efficiency and significantly reduce "Left Without Being Seen" (LWBS) rates (target: 2%).
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Build strong, collaborative relationships with department physicians, inpatient leaders, and market executives to align clinical care and drive system-wide change.
  • Metric & Operations Management: Utilize healthcare analytics and reporting tools (Epic, Excel, Power BI) to track operational metrics, enhance accountability, and partner with revenue cycle teams.
  • Volume & Workforce Oversight: Maintain executive oversight over high-volume ED operations (120k+ annual visits) and direct a large nursing workforce (200+ FTEs, PRN, and contract staff).

  • Licensure: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License [Required].
