Full Job Description
As the Leader, Planning, you will lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of professionals to deliver service excellence. You are responsible to deliver aspects of the RouteAhead strategy and lead the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, strategies, service design specifications and short, medium, and long-range network plans. Primary duties include: - Leadership, clear direction, and management of Calgary Transit's Planning team. - Provide oversight and direction of project teams and successfully manage projects by coordinating the activities of the team and peers, and maintain project records in alignment with City standards. - Prepare and present technical reports for senior management, update policy and strategy documents, and develop processes to ensure efficient and fair decision-making. - Negotiate with industry partners collaborate with internal teams, and research best practices to identify gaps and capitalize on opportunities to implement and improve transit services. - Engage meaningfully with the public and advocates, respond to community inquiries, present to Council, and support colleagues in the implementation of approved policies and strategies. - Provide input to City of Calgary policies, strategies and design standards to guide decisions on mobility programs, infrastructure investments, and facility designs. - Review Consultants' proposals and manage contracted service providers. Qualifications - A degree in Planning (as recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners), Geography, Engineering, Economics, or a related field and at least 8 years of progressively responsible and varied planning experience. - Experience with engagement of interested parties and analyzing public behaviour is required. - Demonstrated ability in project management, effective communication (written and oral), and strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills are required. - Experience with policy & strategy development, design standard development & implementation. Workstyle - This position may be eligible to work from home for up to one day per week as one of several flexible work options available to City employees.
