The Leader of Manufacturing, Harness (internally, the Millennium title will be Director of Manufacturing), oversees aspects of satellite component product assembly, test, and delivery to satellite integration. The department consists of manufacturing engineers, operations research, and technicians.

Specifically, this position will report to the VP of Manufacturing and partner with the rest of the Manufacturing leadership team in support of the company's mission success.

This position's internal job code is Engineering Multi-Skill Leader. Our Team is currently hiring for a level L.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to manufacturing personnel. Responsible for ensuring that product is manufactured safely to the highest quality standards and service levels while achieving cost improvement goals
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the health of Manufacturing and Production with respect to capacity, work force, throughput, and bottle necks
  • Assist with Millennium factory build efforts with respect to: staffing, planning of satellite production lines, and flight program builds (both classified and unclassified)
  • Define and execute continuous improvement strategies and initiatives to achieve business objectives
  • With the assistance of team leads, may manage manufacturing engineers and all technicians (harness) to produce satellite components and support integration
  • Lead and execute tasks required to transition hardware build from low-rate initial production to higher rate production
  • Lead and execute tasks required to transition hardware build to different manufacturing locations
  • Support proposals for future contracts and coordinate throughout the proposal gate review process
  • Implement AS9100 Quality practices specifically for harness manufacturing to ensure zero-defect electrical paths and high-reliability flight hardware
  • Partner with Boeing Space Mission Systems Operations counterparts as a Boeing non-fully integrated subsidiary leader
  • Manage Millennium Space Systems' Manufacturing OH and Process Improvement budgets, and capital budgets
  • Communicate state of the company to manufacturing and production personnel


Initiatives

Harness:
  • Direct the end-to-end production of complex satellite wiring harnesses, ensuring precise routing, shielding, and connectorization to meet rigorous flight specifications and support overall satellite integration
  • Oversee the specialized assembly of electrical interconnects, managing the transition of harness hardware from low-rate initial production to high-rate production to support constellation delivery
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure harness designs are optimized for manufacturability (DFM), reducing production errors and improving the efficiency of the integration process
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the harness shop to reduce waste, improve technician efficiency, and lower production costs while maintaining the highest quality standards
  • Provide technical mentorship and leadership to Harness technicians and manufacturing engineers, fostering a culture of precision and safety in the production of critical satellite components


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years' experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, test engineering materials and process engineering, or similar field in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries
  • Bring a level of subject matter expertise to one of the following areas: harnessing, printed circuit board assemblies, structural assembly, structural bonding, mechanisms, or composite honeycomb machining.
  • High level of proficiency in MRP/ERP systems
  • Knowledge of satellite manufacturing engineering principles and concepts
  • Experience working with a union represented workforce
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
