Summary

Leader Corporate Security - SOC

As the Leader of Corporate Security Operations (SOC) at APS, you play a critical role in protecting the people, facilities, and infrastructure that power communities. This position ensures that security systems, processes, and teams operate effectively to support safe, reliable energy delivery. By leading security operations, strengthening preparedness, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, you help safeguard business continuity and reinforce trust with employees, customers, and the communities APS serves.

What Your Day Would Be Like:
  • Lead daily Security Operations Center (SOC) activities, ensuring effective monitoring, incident response, and protection across APS facilities and critical infrastructure
  • Oversee physical security systems and access control operations, helping maintain a safe environment for employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Guide and support SOC personnel, fostering a high-performing team focused on readiness, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with teams across Corporate Security, IT, Compliance, IAM, Operations, and external agencies to strengthen security performance and alignment
  • Drive incident response, emergency preparedness, and recovery efforts to protect business continuity and reduce risk
  • Support compliance efforts, audit readiness, and security program execution, including alignment with NERC CIP and industry best practices


Who We're Looking For:
  • Experience leading security operations or a Security Operations Center (SOC), including oversight of personnel and day-to-day operations
  • Strong understanding of physical security systems, access control, and incident response within critical infrastructure environments

Minimum Requirements

Leader Corporate Security - SOC
  • Associates degree
  • PLUS five (5) years related experience,
  • OR High School degree or equivalent
  • PLUS seven (7) years' experience in security operations or regulatory compliance at either a Corporate Operations Center or Law Enforcement Operation Center, or a commensurate combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to learn software systems utilized by Corporate Security.
  • Must be able to become CIP certified.


Preferred Special Skills Knowledge or Qualifications:
  • Leadership experience within security operations, emergency management, critical infrastructure, utility operations, regulatory compliance, or corporate security environments.
  • Working knowledge of physical access control systems, intrusion detection systems, video surveillance systems, visitor management platforms, and alarm monitoring technologies.
  • Experience with C• CURE 9000, access control administration, badge management, and enterprise physical security system implementations.
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP standards and regulatory compliance practices.
  • Experience supporting regulatory audits, assessments, evidence management, and corrective action programs.
  • Experience working with Identity and Access Management (IAM) processes and access governance programs.
  • Ability to analyze operational risks and implement sustainable control solutions.
  • Experience creating procedures, training programs, dashboards, workflows, and operational improvements.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.


Major Accountabilities

1) Oversee and manage the Security Operations Center physical security programs and personnel (for all APS assets excluding Palo Verde) to safeguard personnel and property.
Ensure all electronic security systems are operating properly to ensure maximum protection at all sites system-wide and that all Security Operations Center security procedures and processes are current and effective.
2) Understand Corporate Security's Security Standards and be able to articulate those standards and assess their proper implementation at APS sites.
3) Develop and implement security procedures and emergency plans to meet Federal, State and Corporate requirements. Ensure continuous review of both Federal & Local Threat Advisories Updates are maintained and the appropriate Security procedures and responses are implemented according to the threat level company wide.
4) Oversee units' response to potential security/safety problems, emergencies, i.e., intrusions, alarms, critical security system failures. Ensure effective utilization of manpower and equipment with consistency to needs.
5) Understand the role of the Integrated Operations Center and it's Fusion Center model and be able to oversee it as such.
6) Establish and maintain appropriate contacts and relationships with law enforcement, security system vendors and internal customers, i.e., customer service office supervisors/managers, Meter Reading, Final Bills, etc.
7) Plan and conduct Security related training sessions for employees.
8) Assist in special projects and cost analysis of security budgets in order to manage resources to achieve project objectives within time and budget constraints

Hybrid: Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.
  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
