Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Water Treatment Mechanic to lead service mechanics responsible for maintenance and operational reliability of water/wastewater treatment systems and related infrastructure. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading technical maintenance tasks and projects to support optimal plant operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee complex maintenance, repair, and installation of pumps, motors, valves, blowers, chemical feed systems, and other treatment equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and P&ID’s, electrical knowledge, plumbing skills, instrumentation and field setup-up and commissioning.
  • Diagnosing equipment and systems issues.
  • Plan and execute preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate operations staff to support continuous plant performance and efficiency.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to technical staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to water operations, including production data, maintenance logs, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level technicians and staff professionals as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or relevant work experience in lieu of degree; additional certification or training in water treatment operations is preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience in hands-on water and/or wastewater treatment experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of water/wastewater treatment and theory.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex water systems to ensure zero downtime.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety planning.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications for data management and reporting.
