What will you do?As a
Lead Thermal Analysis Engineer in our San Diegooffice, you will function as the technical lead for projects involving thermal design & analysis of aerospace systems and payloads. You will plan and execute thermal tests, including TVAC. You will help set the direction for our thermal group, staying up to date on the latest best practices and using your experience to guide the direction of the thermal team. As part of your leadership, you'll be expected to help mentor younger engineers through task delegation and technical review. You will support sales activities to help bring in new work. For projects focused on your technical discipline you will own the relationship and fulfill project management duties.
Essential Job Functions:- Manage all aspects of thermal analysis projects - project planning & staffing, communication with internal and external teams, define technical approach for complex problems, delegate and review portions of the workload, perform thermal modeling and analysis, present results to client, track schedules and budgets
- Own Quartus' relationships with clients: build, develop, and grow business relationships
- Contribute to sales efforts by writing proposals, presenting engineering capabilities, and assisting business development team with meeting, conference, and marketing content support
- Plan and lead thermal tests: perform pre-test analysis, write test plans, plan staffing support and arrange shifts if needed for longer tests, execute successfully to project requirements, use data to improve model correlation
- Lead thermal design efforts including specifying components, analyzing performance, and working with vendors and manufacturing teams to implement thermal systems
- Lead strategic initiatives to help Quartus stay at the forefront of advances in thermal design and simulation
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers
LocationPosition is based in San Diego with a hybrid schedule.*

What are we looking for?- BS or MS (typically in mechanical, aerospace, structural, or similar engineering field)
- 10 years of work experience with strong focus on thermal design, analysis, and testing
- Experience in Thermal Desktop required
- Experience in additional simulation tools is a plus
- Experience with or willingness to learn STOP (structural, thermal, optical performance) analysis
- Strong experience in spacecraft thermal design and analysis, on-orbit thermal analysis, and TVAC testing
- Experience in space optical systems is a plus
- US Person (US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident)
Compensation and BenefitsLead Project Engineer pay range: $138,476 - $200,000*
*This range represents base pay. In addition, you may be eligible for additional benefits and compensation.
