  • Act as the main contact for the department in the absence of the supervisor.

Job description:
Provides day-to-day direction to the technical staff to achieve optimum workflow with minimum errors. Supports the General Supervisor by performing a combination of activities. Creates department/bench schedules for staff and ensures effective employee utilization through planning. Helps manage use of overtime. Monitors turn-around-time. Assists supervisor in prioritizing work assignments and monitors production and activity of staff in order to meet departmental deadlines. Serves as the point person for department when supervisor is not available.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a medical laboratory technology from accredited institution OR from have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) accredited institution
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college/university, AND successful completion of the applicable NAACLS accredited laboratory program.
  • Two (2) years working as a technologist in a clinical laboratory with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification.
