In this role, you'll contribute to Naval Operational Architecture (NOA), working alongside engineers and operators to deliver resilient, forward-leaning solutions in support of national defense.
About the role: PMAT is seeking a highly experienced Lead Systems Integration Engineer to support the planning, coordination, integration, and execution of complex System of Systems (SoS) architectures across exercise and operational environments. This role bridges tactical hardware integration, Command and Control (C2) data interfaces, cloud-native engineering, DevSecOps practices, cybersecurity compliance, and technical project coordination. The candidate will work across autonomous platform development, tactical communications, cloud infrastructure, and Navy cybersecurity requirements to ensure systems are integrated, secure, interoperable, and ready to support mission objectives. The role requires strong technical leadership, hands-on systems integration experience, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional engineering, cyber, operational, and program stakeholders in dynamic Navy and DoD environments.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and support System of Systems (SoS) engineering activities by evaluating technical requirements, coordinating system dependencies, and supporting the integration of cloud networks, software products, tactical systems, and operational capabilities.
- Provide technical project coordination across engineering teams by administering JIRA and related Atlassian workflows, coordinating action items, supporting M365 meetings, documenting technical discussions, evaluating software licensing needs, and serving as a liaison with external stakeholders.
- Analyze and document Command and Control (C2) data flows, interface requirements, data types, schemas, and integration dependencies to support interoperability across complex technical and operational environments.
- Evaluate, integrate, and optimize tactical hardware and communications systems by supporting expeditionary communications, edge servers, Point-to-Point systems, MPU-5 radios, SATCOM equipment, and related mission hardware.
- Support DevSecOps and software integration efforts by coordinating feature development, coding integrations, CI/CD pipeline activities, and software delivery workflows for autonomous platforms and related mission systems.
- Support cloud-native and containerized platform integration by applying knowledge of software containerization, orchestration, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and scalable deployment environments.
- Coordinate tactical networking activities by supporting mesh networking, network authentication, routing concepts, and secure network design in accordance with DoD and Navy requirements.
- Support cybersecurity compliance and authorization activities by assisting with RMF, ATO package development, artifact coordination, inspection preparation, cyber team submissions, and identity and access management requirements.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical information for operational, engineering, program, and leadership audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and support multiple stakeholders in a dynamic technical program environment.
- Experience supporting systems engineering, systems integration, DevSecOps, tactical networks, cloud infrastructure, or related technical roles.
- Experience coordinating complex technical activities across cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, operational, and program teams.
- Experience supporting System of Systems integration efforts, technical requirements coordination, interface management, or capability integration activities.
- Experience working with cloud, software, networking, hardware, cybersecurity, or operational technology environments.
- Understanding of cybersecurity compliance, access control, secure configuration, and authorization-related activities within Navy, DoD, or similar environments.
- Ability to document technical requirements, integration details, risks, action items, and stakeholder decisions in a clear and organized manner.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience administering Atlassian/JIRA workflows, coordinating M365 meetings, supporting technical note-taking, managing engineering action items, and evaluating enterprise or government software licensing requirements.
- Experience with Navy or DoD System of Systems architectures, operational exercises, fleet experimentation, or deployed mission environments.
- Experience with Command-and-Control integration, data mapping, interface documentation, data schemas, and operational data flow analysis.
- Experience integrating or evaluating tactical hardware and communications systems, including expeditionary communications, edge servers, Point-to-Point systems, MPU-5 radios, SATCOM equipment, or similar mission hardware.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices, software development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, autonomous platform integrations, and software release coordination.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, containerization, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and orchestration environments.
- Experience with tactical networking concepts including mesh networks, routing, network authentication, and DoD-compliant network architectures.
- Experience supporting RMF, ATO package development, cybersecurity artifact coordination, cyber inspections, compliance reviews, and identity and access management requirements.
Education and Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience
Citizenship and Clearance requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship required
- No dual citizenship
- Active DOD Secret security clearance is required
- TS/SCI Eligible security clearance preferred
