Lead Surveyor

Musselwhite Mine

Purpose:

As part of our ongoing operations at Musselwhite Mine, we are seeking a Lead Surveyor to oversee and support underground surveying activities. Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the successful candidate will lead a team of two Mine Surveyors, providing technical guidance and coordinating survey activities to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient mine development and production. The role is responsible for maintaining survey control, ensuring data integrity, and supporting mine planning and operational objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise underground and surface mine surveying activities to support production and development
  • Plan and schedule daily/weekly survey work aligned with mine production targets
  • Lead, coach, and develop survey personnel while promoting a strong safety culture
  • Drive adoption of new technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain underground survey control and perform development, production, and excavation surveys
  • Operate and maintain advanced surveying equipment, including total stations, laser scanners, MOSS, Boretrak, and drones
  • Perform QA/QC of survey data (e.g., Boretrak), verifying accuracy and alignment with engineering standards
  • Support raiseboring and diamond drilling operations by providing accurate positioning and alignment information
  • Collaborate with engineers, construction teams, and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve survey-related issues
  • Maintain accurate and organized survey records and reports in line with site MDM (Mine Data Management) standards
  • Support month-end reconciliation, volume calculations, and implementation of new survey technologies.

  • 5+ years of underground mine surveying experience, including leadership or supervisory experience
  • Extensive knowledge of underground mine survey methods, control networks, mine development surveying, and production surveying
  • Proficiency with Leica, Trimble, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Deswik, MOSS, Boretrak, and laser scanning technology
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of underground survey methods, QA/QC processes, and mine safety regulations
  • Comfortable working in remote, field-based mining environments


Working Conditions:

  • This is a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) position with a rotational schedule of 14 days on / 14 days off, working 12-hour shifts rotations.


Compensation:

  • The base salary range for this position is CAD$112,563 - $125,070 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
  • This role is eligible to participate in the Company's annual short term incentive program. The target annual bonus for this position is 15% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.
  • The Company offers a Defined Contribution Pension Plan (DCPP), including an automatic 5% employer contribution, with the option for employees to receive up to an additional 4% employer match on employee contributions.
