JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Lead Software Engineer - Identity Access Management at JPMorgan Chase within the CTO Team, you will be part of a team that works to enhance, design, and deliver the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor of a software engineering team, you will need to execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.

Job responsibilities:

  • Leverage enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate design, coding, testing, troubleshooting, and automation while maintaining secure, high-quality, auditable delivery.
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, and ensure implemented code conforms to design constraints and standards.
  • Drives team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve scalable, resilient systems in a timely manner in partnership with product teams.
  • Write clean, well-documented, unit-tested code to ensure high-quality software modules.
  • Incorporate non-functional requirements (telemetry, monitoring, security, alerting, logging) into solution designs and implementations.
  • Manage critical, time-sensitive concurrent tasks with appropriate supervision, prioritization, and escalation when needed.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance delivery flow across product and technology.
  • Mentor and develop team members in design, new technologies, clean code, TDD, code review, and problem-solving practices.
  • Partner with product/customers to understand program function and end-user experience, support production issues as needed, collaborate effectively in distributed Agile teams, and contribute as a technology coach/lead developer across teams.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence stakeholders, explain complex technical concepts, and collaborate across teams and time zones.
  • Demonstrated leadership in using approved AI-assisted development tools (coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) and setting team standards to validate AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency/security expectations; able to coach teams on safe, compliant adoption.
  • Proficiency with AI coding/analysis assistants to improve developer productivity and velocity, applying appropriate governance and security controls.
  • Proven innovator with a track record of proposing and prototyping new design ideas to solve problems.
  • Expert knowledge of OOP, design patterns, and software analysis/design practices.
  • Ability to assess upstream/downstream system and data impacts and recommend mitigation actions.
  • Strong backend engineering experience with Java, REST/web services/APIs, Spring Boot, microservices, multithreading, and databases (e.g., Oracle, MS SQL, CockroachDB).
  • Frontend experience with modern UI frameworks such as React and Angular.
  • DevOps/quality and non-functional tooling experience, including Terraform (or similar IaC), test automation (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber, Blazemeter), Git, Jenkins CI/CD, application resiliency and security, and performance/telemetry/monitoring/alerts/logging.

  • Experience with customer facing web applications, NOSQL databases such as Mongo
  • Experience with Agile Development Techniques, Issue/Bug Management and Team Collaboration Tools
  • Understand requirements, technical design and ask the right questions to be able to come up with good quality solution
