Job DescriptionThis position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development and maintenance of best in class software experiences. The candidate is a self-motivated individual who can collaborate with a team and across the organization. The candidate takes responsibility of the software artifacts produced adhering to U.S. Bank standards in order to ensure minimal impact to the customer experience. The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.
Essential Responsibilities:- Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, cloud-native enterprise applications supporting critical business functions.
- Architect and implement microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and distributed applications with a focus on performance, resiliency, and high availability.
- Develop modern, responsive user experiences using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Build and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and containerized architectures.
- Partner with Product, UX, Architecture, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Drive engineering excellence through architecture reviews, code quality standards, automated testing, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
- Mentor software engineers, provide technical leadership, and influence architectural decisions across delivery teams.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), RAG, Agentic AI, and enterprise AI platforms.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant experience
Preferred Skills/Experience- Expertise in Distributed Systems, Microservices Architecture, RESTful APIs, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) with experience building scalable, high-throughput applications.
- Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications on Azure and/or AWS, including containerized deployments.
- Hands-on expertise with Kafka, Kubernetes, Rancher, Istio, Apigee, Jenkins/CloudBees, GitLab, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, application architecture, resiliency, security, observability, monitoring, and reliability engineering.
- Experience implementing automated testing frameworks including Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, and Playwright.
- Knowledge of AI/ML application development, including Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, Agentic AI, LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, MCP, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini.
- Proven ability to lead complex initiatives in Agile and DevOps environments, influence technical direction, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Location expectationsThis role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $126,820.00 - $149,200.00
