JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase Asset Wealth Management, you will provide hands-on leadership to an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.  You will provide technical leadership across the Fund Administration and Transfer Agency technology estate, owning delivery execution, influencing architecture direction and engineering standards, driving platform modernization and operational resiliency, and contributing to talent development.  This role demands a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment, can manage competing priorities, and drives engineering excellence across the team.  

Job responsibilities

  • Leading the build-out of strategic end-to-end platform capabilities for Fund Administration and Transfer Agency businesses

  • Design, develop, and deliver full stack software solutions, applying strong problem-solving skills to break down complex technical challenges.

  • Own engagement with stakeholders and product owners to gather requirements, clarify scope, deliver on agreed solutions that align with business objectives.

  • Lead development planning activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, effort estimation, and technical roadmap definition, ensuring the team delivers incrementally and predictably.

  • Champion team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted coding pipelines, code review/refactoring, test strategy acceleration, incident/root-cause analysis support), while establishing consistent validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and ensuring appropriate governance and controls.

  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and review peers' work to maintain consistency, reliability, and adherence to engineering standards.

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve the overall operational stability of applications and systems.

  • Maintain clear and organized documentation including technical designs, architecture decisions, and runbooks, ensuring knowledge is shared and accessible.

  • Participate in communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and adoption of modern tooling, patterns, and best practices.

  • Mentor and develop engineers across global locations and foster engineering excellence through coaching and technical leadership.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

  • Hands-on practical experience across the Full Stack Software Development Life Cycle, including system design, application development, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and operational support.

  • Core Java and full-stack application development, Object-oriented analysis and design techniques, applied experience with REST APIs.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating business requirements into actionable technical plans.

  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages

  • Experience designing and operating cloud-native applications using AWS services, container platforms, and Infrastructure-as-Code (eg. ECS/EKS, Lambda, Terraform)

  • Experience championing observability practices including monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and SLO/SLA management.

  • Experience building event-driven systems and distributed architectures using messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka.

  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.

  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices

  • Strong experience in writing and maintaining comprehensive unit, functional, and integration tests.

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies, eg. REACT

  • AWS Certified (e.g., Solutions Architect, Developer, etc.) 

  • Working knowledge of Fund Administration, Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, Custody, Investment Operations, or Asset Management platforms.

  • Experience integrating operational and investment data platforms through APIs, event streams, and data pipelines.
