A Snapshot of Your Day As the Lead Site Commissioning Engineer, you will serve as the technical authority on-site for commissioning activities supporting high-voltage substation EPC and turnkey projects. You will develop and execute commissioning strategies, oversee testing of primary and secondary systems, and ensure equipment is safely tested, energized, and integrated. Working closely with engineering, construction, project management, OEMs, and customers, you will resolve technical challenges and keep commissioning activities aligned with project milestones. Your leadership will help ensure safe, reliable energization and successful project handover.
How You'll Make an Impact - Develop and execute detailed commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and readiness activities for high-voltage substations, including energization and isolation/PTW processes.
- Lead testing and commissioning of primary and secondary equipment, including transformers, GIS, circuit breakers, protection relays, SCADA systems, and control panels.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor commissioning teams while maintaining a strong culture of safety, quality, and technical excellence.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, OEMs, construction teams, and client representatives to align commissioning activities with project schedules and milestones.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IEC, IEEE, NERC, OSHA, environmental, and client-specific requirements while maintaining commissioning documentation, test reports, NCRs, RAMS, and as-built records.
- Drive Siemens Energy's Zero Harm culture by promoting safe work practices, conducting safety activities and training, and ensuring compliance throughout high-voltage site operations.
What You Bring - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience leading site commissioning activities, with demonstrated experience commissioning high-voltage substations.
- Strong ability to interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, protection schemes, and commissioning/test procedures.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment, grid operations, and substation controls; experience with energy storage systems (BESS) is preferred.
- Strong understanding of OSHA requirements, environmental compliance, and high-voltage site safety practices, with the ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
- Effective communication, leadership, organizational, and reporting skills, including the ability to manage multiple critical site activities simultaneously.
