Full Job Description
Location: East Chicago, IN

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opening for Lead SAP Basis Administrator. As a Lead SAP Basis Administrator at Cleveland-Cliffs, you will be part of a team providing support for the SAP production environment as well as participating in strategic projects as needed. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP Basis administration, S/4 HANA upgrades and migrations, and on-premises and cloud infrastructure. This role involves managing and optimizing our SAP landscape to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.

Summary of Responsibilities
  • System Installation and Configuration: Install and configure SAP systems, including the underlying database.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize the performance of SAP systems.
  • SAP with RISE: Serve as the primary technical liaison to SAP for RISE (Service Delivery Manager, Technical Service Manager) for incidents, service requests, and escalations.
  • System Upgrades and Migrations: Plan and execute system upgrades and migrations of SAP products.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of SAP with other SAP and non-SAP systems.
  • Transport Management: Manage the SAP transport system to move changes across different environments.
  • System Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular system health checks and troubleshoot. Experience using Cloud ALM to monitor SAP landscape.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and updates.
  • Access and Security Management: Manage end user, privileged user, roles and profiles. Administer SAP security at the Basis layer (RFC destinations, SNC, Single Sign-On, STRUST certificates, secure profile parameters). Experience with SAP GRC-Access Control or IAM tools for user provisioning and access management controls, including Segregation of Duties.
  • Work closely with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and operation of SAP systems
  • Provide technical leadership and coaching to junior analysts and act as an escalation point for complex technical incidents
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years in SAP Basis administration, with at least two full end-to-end implementation or upgrade cycles.
  • Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA, SAP GRC, SAP BTP and SAP TM system administration.
  • Experience with operating systems Unix/Linux (primarily SUSE) and Windows
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Project management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management fundamentals
  • Proficiency in English


Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: SAP Certified Technology Associate (SAP HANA); ITIL or Project Management (PMP) certifications are highly valued
  • Experience with Cloud ALM changes process and test orchestration
  • Experience with SAP Cloud products (SAP IBP, SAP C4C, SAP CPI, SAP IBP)
  • Experience with SAP HANA 2021 or more recent version
