Position SummaryThe Lead Quality Engineer - Technology & Transformation is responsible for defining, deploying, and continuously improving end-to-end quality engineering solutions across the manufacturing value stream-from incoming raw materials through production and final product performance at the customer.
This role ensures robust, scalable quality verification and process control methods are embedded directly within manufacturing operations, leveraging in-line inspection technologies, material science understanding, and process capability engineering to drive consistency, traceability, and compliance.
A key focus of the role is to establish connected visibility of product quality throughout its lifecycle, linking material characteristics, process conditions, and finished good performance into a cohesive view that enables proactive decision-making, defect prevention, and continuous improvement.
Operating within the Quality COE, this leader combines hands-on technical expertise with enterprise-level influence, partnering across Quality, Operations, and Engineering to standardize best practices, deploy next-generation quality technologies, and elevate overall manufacturing performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Engineering Leadership & Transformation
- Lead the practical evolution of quality engineering across manufacturing, focused on defect prevention and process capability
- Translate enterprise quality priorities into implementable, line-level engineering solutions
- Deliver measurable improvements in scrap, rework, yield, and customer complaints
End-to-End Quality System Design (Process-Focused)
- Design and implement integrated quality control methods spanning:
- Incoming materials
- Production and converting
- Finishing, warehouse, and release
- Ensure alignment between material properties, process conditions, and final product performance
- Drive standardization of core quality practices across sites while enabling execution flexibility
In-Line Inspection & Process Control Technologies
- Lead deployment of process-integrated quality technologies, examples of which are:
- Automated gauging and thickness control
- Vision systems for defect detection
- Real-time inspection and feedback loops
- Enable closed-loop process control and real-time quality visibility
- Partner with engineering to embed quality within equipment design and operation
Incoming Material & Process Quality Assurance
- Establish robust systems for:
- Raw material validation (e.g., resin properties, contamination detection)
- Material handling integrity, dosing accuracy, and traceability
- Ensure strong linkage between incoming material consistency and downstream process capability
Advanced Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead deep root cause analysis on chronic quality losses and customer escapes
- Apply Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to improve process stability and capability
- Shift organization toward preventive, data-informed quality engineering practices
Capital & Technology Implementation (Engineering-Led)
- Identify, justify, and deploy targeted investments in quality-related equipment and tooling, including:
- Inspection and measurement technologies
- Process control enhancements
- Build business cases tied to process gaps, variability, and cost of poor quality
- Ensure solutions are practical, sustainable, and fully adopted in operations
Cross-Functional Leadership & Capability Building
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Plant Quality teams to scale solutions across sites
- Develop organizational capability in:
- In-line quality engineering
- Process control and capability improvement
- Establish and advance a connected view of product quality across its lifecycle, enabling traceability from raw material through manufacturing to finished product performance at the customer
- Mentor teams to build ownership, standardization, and continuous improvement culture
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing, or related)
- 8-12+ years of experience in manufacturing quality and process engineering
- Strong experience in:
- Process capability and control
- In-line inspection and measurement systems
- Root cause analysis and structured problem solving
- Hands-on experience in plastics, paper, or converting environments preferred
Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or equivalent)
- Experience implementing inspection or process control technologies at scale
- Familiarity with digital tools and dashboards (as a user, not system owner)

Pay TransparencySalary Range: $102,600-$176,755
The range disclosed complies with applicable state and local pay transparency laws. Offers within this range will be determined by considering relevant factors including education, experience, and internal alignment. This position may also be eligible for annual performance bonuses and other incentive programs.
