Responsibilities

  • Act as the project controls expert, offering guidance in the absence of the Project Controls Manager
  • Support onboarding and training for new team members, including coaching on processes and tools
  • Set up and manage projects in the ERP system (IFS), ensuring alignment with manufacturing and procurement needs
  • Review contracts and scopes of work for accurate project setup
  • Lead cost control efforts, managing budgets, forecasting, and project closeout tasks
  • Establish and manage milestone tracking, preparing documentation for invoicing
  • Develop and analyze detailed project schedules, assisting team members with updates
  • Implement earned value management systems (EVM) for project progress measurement
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reports for accuracy and timeliness

Summary:

The Lead Project Controls Specialist supports the Project Controls Manager in executing and overseeing all project controls functions across the project lifecycle. This role is responsible for project setup, cost control, forecasting, scheduling, reporting, and project closeout activities. The position also serves as a subject matter expert in project controls processes and systems, with a strong emphasis on proficiency in IFS, cost analysis, and project planning.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a project controls subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to team members and acting as a resource in the absence of the Project Controls Manager
  • Support onboarding and training of new hires, and provide ongoing coaching to project teams on tools, processes, and best practices
  • Initiate, set up, and maintain projects within the ERP system (IFS), including driving demand for manufacturing and procurement activities
  • Review contracts, proposals, and scopes of work to ensure accurate project setup and alignment with requirements
  • Develop and maintain Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) • Lead project cost control efforts, including budget management, change orders, forecasting, variance analysis, and project closeout
  • Establish and manage milestone tracking, including preparation of documentation required for invoicing
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze detailed project schedules; support team members in schedule development and updates as needed
  • Implement and manage earned value management systems (EVM), including progress measurement and S-curve reporting
  • Prepare and/or support weekly and monthly project reporting, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
  • Coordinate and support internal and external project meetings; document and distribute meeting minutes as required
  • Maintain and track action item registers to ensure timely resolution of project deliverables
  • Management of Change (MOC) logs and generate/stew change orders as required
  • Facilitate internal and external meetings in the absence of the Project Manager, as needed
  • Support Business Development efforts by developing proposal schedules when assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a similar position
  • Subsea Equipment Knowledge - 5 year minimum
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and ERP systems (preferably IFS but similar systems is a bonus as well)
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to Influence others through cooperation and teamwork
  • Open-minded with a strong customer orientation.
