Full Job Description
BAM is in a period of rapid technology transition. Our Global Production Engineering organization supports the platforms and workflows that enable Operations and Finance across the firm. This role will own a significant technical domain spanning trade booking, position management, accounting, reference data, treasury, portfolio management, and downstream data distribution.

As a Lead Production Engineer , you will be a senior technical individual contributor. You will lead technical direction and delivery across a broad domain without direct people-management responsibility. You will set standards, make design decisions, resolve difficult production issues, and coordinate delivery across Development, Operations, Finance, Treasury, Portfolio Management, and external vendors.

You will combine strong financial markets knowledge with deep production engineering experience. Your work will help ensure the accurate and timely processing of trades and transactions, calculation and attribution of P&L, completion of end-of-day accounting processes, and delivery of critical data to downstream systems.

The role operates within a global follow-the-sun support model and requires clear communication, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to improving system stability, operational controls, and service quality.

Responsibilities
  • Own the technical direction, operational health, and support model for a significant Operations and Finance technology domain.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of complex production issues across applications, databases, infrastructure, messaging, integrations, and workflows.
  • Support critical business processes, including trade capture, position management, P&L delivery, accounting, reconciliations, reference data, treasury, and downstream data loads.
  • Lead delivery across cross-functional initiatives from requirements and design through implementation, production readiness, and ongoing support.
  • Set standards for operational readiness, documentation, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and production support.
  • Improve observability using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Splunk, ITRS Geneos, Prometheus, and AlertManager.
  • Support integrations and connectivity, including APIs, message queues, FIX, vendor feeds, managed file transfer, certificates, SSH keys, IP allowlisting, and firewall coordination.
  • Configure and optimize automated workflows and dependencies using tools such as ActiveBatch and Airflow.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to identify risks, manage trade-offs, and improve platform stability, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in the global follow-the-sun support model, including regional handovers and rotational evening and weekend escalation support.

Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of experience supporting financial technology within a hedge fund, investment bank, asset manager, or financial technology provider.
  • Proven experience owning a significant technical domain, platform, or cross-team initiative.
  • Strong knowledge of trade operations, accounting, portfolio management, reference data, treasury, or related financial systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience across applications, databases, infrastructure, integrations, and operational workflows.
  • Experience with .NET, Python, SQL Server, enterprise messaging platforms, and scripting technologies such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience with scheduling tools such as ActiveBatch or Airflow.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and Windows administration.
  • Experience supporting reconciliations, exception management, and operational controls in trading, middle-office, or fund-accounting environments.
  • Experience working with Agile Development teams and production environments within an ITIL framework.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical risks, constraints, and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant college degree or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and SRE practices.
  • Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, metrics, structured logging, Splunk, Grafana, or ITRS Geneos.
  • Experience with AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake, or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with hedge fund operations, prime brokerage, fund accounting, Advent Geneva, Arcesium, Northern Trust, or PortfolioOne.
  • Experience supporting data warehouses and downstream data distribution platforms.

What We Value
  • End-to-end ownership of systems, services, and technical workstreams.
  • Strong technical judgment and sound business and operational understanding.
  • Clear communication, effective stakeholder management, and accountability through delivery.
