Lead Product Owner - HR Technology - AI

Role Summary:

The Lead Product Owner - HR Technology - AI will lead the strategy, backlog, and delivery execution for HR technology products that improve employee and manager experiences while increasing operational efficiency. This role will partner closely with HR leaders, business stakeholders, architects, engineers, and data teams to define product priorities, translate needs into epics and user stories, and guide delivery from ideation through release and adoption. The successful candidate will bring strong product ownership experience across Workday Human Capital Management, HR processes, analytics, testing, and cross-functional collaboration. This individual will also help identify and scale practical artificial intelligence use cases in HR, including workflow automation, digital assistants, knowledge search, insights, and decision support. The role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, product execution, and user-centered problem solving. Based in Dallas, this position is designed for a product leader who can modernize HR technology while delivering tangible business value.

What You Will Do:
  • Leading the evaluation and deployment of emerging AI technologies and frameworks to enhance Caterpillar's agentic capabilities.
  • Identifying design elements and business requirements and transitioning concepts into workable prototypes
  • Partner closely with technology and business partners (Ex. Caterpillar IT and HR COEs) throughout the enterprise to develop and/or assist in "buy" decisions for AI technologies for HR
  • Participating in translating business requirements into AI solution designs and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver results.
  • Designing an AI application's technical infrastructure, including orchestration layers, tool integrations, data retrieval patterns, and testing approaches.

  • Strong understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations, and deployment patterns
  • Designing, modifying, developing, writing, and implementing Agentic AI applications- focusing on the HR function.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating AI/ML infrastructure components
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and influence architecture decisions across teams.
  • Track record of staying current with rapidly evolving AI landscape and bringing practical recommendations to the table

  • Software Problem Management: Knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision..
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
