Full Job Description
About the Role

Spotfire is looking for a Product Manager to lead our Energy vertical - owning the product strategy and roadmap for the tools and workflows that serve oil & gas and energy customers across the value chain. This spans upstream (field development planning, reserves/production forecasting, asset valuation), midstream (predictive maintenance, pipeline integrity), downstream (yield optimization, advanced process control, scenario analysis), and adjacent workflows where Spotfire can bring unique analytical value.

You'll work closely with Customers, Engineering, Field/Sales Engineering, and other vertical and platform product leads to make sure Spotfire is the best analytics platform across the oil & gas lifecycle - from exploration and development through production and optimization.

What You'll Do

This role follows Spotfire's Product Manager job function: you own the problem definition, business case, prioritization, and success metrics for the Energy vertical - articulating market needs rather than dictating technical implementation or UX design.

Understanding and championing the customer

  • Conduct thorough customer research across the oil & gas value chain to discover needs, pain points, and issues Spotfire can address.
  • Build relationships with key customers, validating product direction through continuous collaboration and iterative discovery.
  • Publish clear, actionable customer interview notes and insights in a timely manner so the wider team benefits from your customer understanding.
  • Advocate for energy customers throughout the product development process and across product initiatives.

Defining and executing product strategy

  • Own and evolve the vision and roadmap for the Energy vertical, aligned with company objectives.
  • Prioritize features and initiatives based on customer value, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Align engineering, marketing, customer success, sales, and field engineering around the product strategy.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and marketing to bring energy-specific end-to-end industry workflows to market successfully, and coordinate with adjacent initiatives.

Driving product development and delivery

  • Work closely with product designers and senior engineers in product discovery to explore and validate solutions to the opportunities you identify.
  • Clearly define product requirements and user stories, and prioritize the Energy vertical's backlog.
  • Support field enablement - demos, use-case-specific assets, and customer-facing presentations - so the roadmap translates into real adoption.
  • Represent the Energy vertical in cross-functional planning and roadmap reviews, and communicate status clearly and regularly

Key Characteristics

In line with what Spotfire looks for in all Product Managers, we're looking for someone who brings:

  • Customer obsession- genuine empathy for the problems energy operators and engineers face, upstream and downstream alike.
  • Technical competence - enough grounding in oil & gas analytical workflows (or the ability to acquire it quickly) to collaborate effectively with engineers.
  • Business acumen - understanding of how energy customers derive value, and how that translates into Spotfire's business case.
  • Design sense - appreciation for good UX, even while leaving design solutions to designers.
  • Strong communication skills - able to articulate vision and strategy clearly to customers, engineers, and leadership alike.
  • Data-driven decision making - grounding roadmap choices in evidence, not opinion.
  • Prioritization skills - making disciplined calls about what to build next across a wide value chain.
  • Collaboration abilities - working effectively across engineering, design, marketing, and field teams without formal authority.
  • Leadership qualities - building alignment and enthusiasm around the vertical's direction.
  • Learning agility - picking up new domain knowledge (a new sub-vertical, a new customer segment) quickly.
  • Strategic thinking - connecting energy-specific decisions to Spotfire's broader product and AI strategy.
  • Execution focus - driving features to GA and adoption, not just planning them.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in product management for analytics, data science, or engineering software, ideally with exposure to the oil & gas / energy industry across more than one part of the value chain.
  • Working knowledge of common oil & gas analytical workflows - such as decline curve analysis, reserves/production forecasting, or production surveillance/optimization - is a strong plus; deep expertise in every area isn't required, but genuine familiarity with the domain is important.
  • Comfort engaging directly with technical, domain-expert customers (reservoir, production, process engineers, data scientists) and translating their workflows into product requirements.
  • A track record of shipping features end-to-end - from customer discovery and requirements definition through engineering collaboration to GA and field enablement.
  • Ability to operate independently across a distributed, cross-functional org - coordinating with engineering, field/sales engineering, marketing, and other product leads without needing heavy oversight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable producing clear, structured status updates and roadmap materials, and delivering customer-facing demos.
  • Familiarity with (or willingness to quickly learn) Spotfire, and comfort with data/analytics concepts such as statistical modeling, forecasting, and industry-specific data sources (LAS, Petrel, OpenWorks, Aries or similar).
  • Nice to have: experience partnering with external software vendors/platforms to build joint integrations (e.g., third-party engineering tools used in the energy sector).

Compensation may vary depending on your location, qualifications including job-related education, training, experience, licensure, and certification, that could result at a level outside of these ranges. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus, and sales incentives depending on the terms of the applicable plan and role as well as individual performance.CA generally ranges: $168,720-$253,080All other locations fall under our General State range: $148,000-$222,000Benefits may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Cloud Software Group and the country where you work.
