Full Job Description
Lead OR Principal Product Manager

Boeing Vancouver is seeking an experienced and strategic Lead OR Principal Product Manager to drive the vision, strategy, and execution of our predictive maintenance solutions. The position will be based from our Richmond, British Columbia office, and a hybrid (2-3 days) work style is offered.

This role requires deep expertise in product management, including discovery, delivery, and lifecycle management, with a strong focus on customer-centric innovation and business impact. Aviation domain knowledge and a passion for advanced analytics and big data are highly valued but secondary to proven product leadership capabilities.

This is not a people management role. Instead, you will be a significant individual contributor within the product strategy team, working alongside dynamic, high-performing colleagues and portfolio leadership. You will influence product direction and strategy through collaboration and thought leadership, without direct managerial responsibilities.

As the Lead Product Manager, you will own the end-to-end product strategy, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and Product Managers to integrate products into a unified user experience, and ensure our predictive maintenance offerings deliver exceptional value to customers and the business. You will be the key driver in aligning market needs, technology capabilities, and business goals to maintain our competitive edge.

Position Responsibilities:

Offer Knowledge:

  • Become an acknowledged expert on our target users/customers, understanding their needs and pain points.

  • Utilize data tools to analyze and gain insights into how our products and services are used.

  • Stay updated on industry and technology trends, competitive landscape, and relevant domain knowledge, with emphasis on aviation maintenance environments and regulatory considerations.

  • Articulate integration points and upsell paths with other offers, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the broader customer and industry ecosystem.

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of business dimensions including marketing, sales, finance, services, legal, compliance, and privacy.

  • Comprehend pricing models and compare our offer to top competitors to ensure competitive advantage.

  • Lead and mentor other product managers, ensuring alignment and integration of strategies across teams.

  • Drive business process improvements to enhance product delivery and operational efficiency.

Process Skills and Techniques:

  • Drive business process improvements across the product development lifecycle and cross-functional workflows to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Lead the adoption of AI-driven Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) to improve clarity, precision, and alignment in product specifications.

  • Employ effective discovery techniques to identify and address product and service risks (value, usability, feasibility, business viability).

  • Proactively tackle risks upfront, iteratively learning through experiments and prototypes.

  • Solve problems collaboratively, focusing on outcomes and utilizing both qualitative and quantitative techniques.

  • Define and communicate our predictive maintenance strategy effectively.

  • Actively listen to discover unmet needs and pain points that may not be explicitly stated.

  • Utilize optimization techniques to improve and refine products rapidly once live and in production.

  • Understand responsibilities to engineers/developers, consultants, sales, product marketing team members, and other key stakeholders.

  • Effectively manage priorities and maintain the holistic predictive maintenance roadmap.

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the broader product development process, including discovery and delivery.

  • Experience leading other product managers and driving strategy integration.

  • Passion for improving products and services for all customers.

  • Background from a top-tier Product Management company or Aviation industry is highly preferred.

People Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Foster collaborative relationships with engineers/developers and designers, involving them early and providing direct access to customers.

  • Leverage the skills and expertise of the team effectively.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company, establishing mutual respect and trust.

  • Act as a true partner committed to the business success of stakeholders.

  • Effectively share the offer vision and strategy, motivating and inspiring the product team and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills by effectively communicating and motivating the team and stakeholders, especially in stressful situations.

  • Thrive in a dynamic environment, working with multiple stakeholders and customers.

  • Enjoy the challenge of maintaining and advancing products that keep aircraft maintained and flying for our customers.

Performance Metrics:

  • Own and drive OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) for your product, ensuring alignment with business goals and measurable outcomes.

  • User and Customer Satisfaction: Measure satisfaction levels through surveys, customer health feedback, and ratings to assess effectiveness in meeting needs and expectations.

  • Offer Performance Metrics: Track revenue growth, market share, customer acquisition and retention rates, and profitability to evaluate offer success.

  • Product Adoption and Usage: Monitor adoption rates and usage patterns to determine effective positioning and promotion.

  • Cross-Sell and Upsell Opportunities: Measure success of integration points and upsell paths by tracking conversion rates and revenue generated.

  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Assess satisfaction levels of engineers/developers, designers, and senior leadership to gauge collaboration effectiveness.

  • Time-to-Market: Evaluate speed and quality of new product and feature delivery, with evidence of product-market fit.

  • Leadership and Team Performance: Monitor team dynamics, employee engagement, and overall success of projects and initiatives.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at Richmond location. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
