Responsibilities

Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Responsible for the operation of x-ray, computed tomography, ultrasound, MRI, nuclear medicine and/or mammography equipment. Supervises and mentors technologists and other modality personnel. Oversees quality assurance and maintains equipment. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team. Assists in accomplishing departmental objectives and goals. Helps create an environment that enables the medical imaging department to meet operational goals. Performs at least three of the modalities listed on a regular basis. This position is represented by RCHEA.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:
  • Associate's Degree in radiologic technology: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred
  • Master's Degree: Preferred
  • Five years' technical experience: Required
  • One year leadership experience: Required


Licenses/Certifications:
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice: Required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Required
  • Must have a current certification in one of the modalities and able to perform duties in at least one other advanced modality: Computed Tomography (CT), Mammography(M), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine (NM), Sonography(S) or Positron Emission Tomography (PET): Required
  • ARRT-Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required


Essential Functions:
  • Reviews daily schedule of the departments that they are assigned and assigns staffing, equipment, and supplies accordingly. Prioritizes emergent procedures, minimizes patient waits and optimizes turn-around times.
  • Uses and oversees the Imaging equipment to produce high quality images following established protocols.
  • Maintains accurate records, files and billing information. Ensures the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
  • Supervises and mentors Imaging Staff, including orientation, training, and development, scheduling and monitoring for performance improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinates service requests to the appropriate team to make sure all equipment is repaired in a timely manner.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
