Full Job Description
As part of our rapid U.S. growth, XNRGY is seeking a highly experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Welding & Brazing to join our team on-site in Mesa, Arizona. Reporting to the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead the development, optimization, and implementation of welding and brazing processes for critical components, ensuring precision, reliability, leak integrity, scalability, and cost efficiency in our high-mix, custom manufacturing environment.

An overview of your responsibilities!
  • Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and specialists in developing and implementing advanced welding and brazing processes.
  • Participate in and lead Design for Manufacturing (DFM) workshops focused on joining methods, collaborating closely with design, R&D, and product engineers to optimize designs for weld/braze feasibility, material compatibility, reduced distortion, and enhanced thermal performance/sustainability.
  • Define and specify welding/brazing processes (e.g., TIG, MIG, orbital welding, torch brazing with filler metals), equipment (e.g., robotic systems, automated torches, induction brazing), tooling, fixtures, and parameters for new product introductions (NPI) and ongoing production.
  • Design and optimize workstation layouts, workflow, and material handling for safe, efficient, and lean welding/brazing operations, supporting high-precision, leak-free assembly.
  • Ensure superior quality and reliability by developing PFMEAs, control plans, weld/braze procedure specifications (WPS/BPS), visual/NDT inspection protocols, and capability studies (e.g., leak testing, pressure testing); maintain compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASME, AWS) for mission-critical applications.
  • Evaluate, select, and integrate advanced technologies, including robotic welding/brazing arms, automated vision inspection, Industry 4.0 monitoring (real-time data tracking), and sustainable practices (e.g., reduced filler use, energy-efficient equipment) to boost precision, throughput, and environmental impact.
  • Lead process validation, equipment commissioning, operator training, and smooth handover of welding/brazing projects to production teams, including root cause analysis for defects and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, safety (e.g., fume extraction, PPE), continuous improvement (lean/Kaizen), and sustainability within the welding/brazing and broader manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Lead and mentor other manufacturing engineers in welding and brazing processes.

What you'll need, among other things!
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (Master's or welding certifications like CWI preferred).
  • Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing engineering, with deep expertise in welding and brazing processes for precision components (e.g., in HVAC, refrigeration, heat exchangers, aerospace, or industrial piping/thermal systems).
  • Proven leadership in Design for Manufacturing, NPI, and process development for joining techniques in custom, high-reliability products.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis, statistical process control, root cause methods (e.g., 8D), and data-driven optimization.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to coordinate with engineering, quality, production, supply chain, and external vendors/certification bodies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to fast-paced priorities, and thrive in an entrepreneurial, growth-oriented company.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and welding simulation tools; knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, AWS/ASME standards, robotic automation, and Industry 4.0 is highly desirable.

Do you have other qualifications? Tell us what sets you apart-such as specialized experience in automated brazing for copper coils, robotic TIG welding in clean environments, qualification of processes for high-pressure systems, or innovations in sustainable joining methods-that would be a great addition to our team.

Does this sound like you? We look forward to receiving your application!
