POSITION PURPOSEThe Lead Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse position is responsible for providing advanced nursing care and clinical leadership within the Interventional Radiology Department. This position combines direct patient care responsibilities with oversight of nursing workflows, procedural staffing practices, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, and staff development.
The RN Lead collaborates with Interventional Radiologists, Radiologists, Advanced Practice Providers, Radiologic Technologists, Anesthesia Personnel, Medical Staff, Pharmacy Staff, and hospital leadership to ensure safe, efficient, evidence-based care throughout the continuum of radiology and image-guided procedures.
The RN Lead serves as the clinical resource for radiology nursing practice and is responsible for assessing departmental workflows to determine appropriate nursing involvement based on patient acuity, sedation requirements, procedural complexity, and applicable scope-of-practice requirements for physicians, registered nurses, and radiologic technologists.
The RN Lead promotes standards established by the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing (ARIN), applicable New Mexico Nurse Practice Acts, accreditation requirements, and organizational policies. This position reports to the Radiology Director with a dotted line to the Chief Nursing Officer for Nursing compliance.
MINIMUM MANDATORY qualificationsExperience:EDUCATION:- Computer Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
- Minimum three (3) years of Registered Nurse experience in acute care, critical care, emergency services, perioperative services, interventional radiology, procedural services, or related specialty.
- Prior leadership, charge nurse, preceptor, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Graduate from an accredited school or college program in nursing (associates degree)
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:- Current State of New Mexico Nursing License as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- BCLS
- ACLS must be completed within 6 months of hire.
Preferred qualifications- Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN)
- Membership in or certification recognized by the Association for Radiologic & Imaging Nursing (ARIN).
- NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred./
- Working knowledge of PACS and radiology workflow systems.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
