Nous sommes à la recherche d'un(e) Ingénieur(e) en mécanique pour diriger la conception et le soutien au cycle de vie des unités de puissance hydraulique et des systèmes mécaniques essentiels au fonctionnement des centrales hydroélectriques. Ce poste est axé sur la conception et la coordination des auxiliaires mécaniques, notamment les pompes, les vannes et les actionneurs utilisés dans les vannes principales d'admission et les régulateurs de vitesse. Une solide expérience dans le dimensionnement et la spécification d'équipements mécaniques tels que les pompes, accumulateurs, vannes, actionneurs et tuyauterie est essentielle. Le rôle comprend également un soutien technique tout au long du cycle de vie des équipements, incluant la chaîne d'approvisionnement, l'assurance qualité, ainsi que les activités de construction et de mise en service des générateurs hydroélectriques.

Responsabilités et activités :
  • Préparer les calculs de conception, les avis fonctionnels et les spécifications techniques pour les achats.
  • Évaluer les offres et la conception des fournisseurs (fortement liés aux spécifications et au contrat) en coordonnant l'interface technique avec eux.
  • Gérez les dessins (assistés par les dessinateurs) et les nomenclatures (BoM) sans supervision.
  • Accompagnement sur son périmètre tout au long de son cycle de vie (achat, conception, fabrication, montage, mise en service et gestion de projet)
  • Fournir un soutien sur les activités techniques d'appel d'offres (étude de site incluse)


Qualifications/Exigences :
  • Baccalauréat (Universitaire) en Génie Mécanique
  • Ingénieur professionnel agréé au Québec (OIQ)
  • Anglais et français courant écrit et parlé: L'employé(e) sera amené(e) à interagir de manière fluide avec des collègues de nos autres installations à travers et/ou à l'extérieur du Canada, et qui sont généralement incapables de communiquer en français et dont la langue de travail est principalement l'anglais.
  • 8 ans minimum d'expérience pertinente (après l'obtention du diplôme)


Connaissances et/ou expérience requises :
  • Expérience dans le dimensionnement et la spécification d'équipements mécaniques (par exemple, groupes hydrauliques - pompes, accumulateurs, vannes, actionneurs, tuyaux).
  • Connaissance générale des normes et règles de dessin
  • Proactivité, sens de l'urgence, autonomie


Connaissances pouvant être un plus :
  • Connaissance des centrales hydroélectriques
  • Connaissance de l'installation et des tests d'équipements


Caractéristiques souhaitées :
  • Bonnes compétences en communication orale et écrite
  • Capacité à travailler dans un environnement d'équipe matriciel mondial.
  • Compétences organisationnelles et esprit d'équipe
  • Bon résolveur de problèmes
  • Disponibilité à voyager en Amérique du nord occasionnellement, notamment en avion.

About the role:

We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the design and lifecycle support of hydraulic power units and mechanical systems essential to the operation of hydropower plants. This role focuses on the design and coordination of mechanical auxiliaries; particularly pumps, valves, and actuators, used in main inlet valves and speed governors. A strong background in sizing and specifying mechanical equipment such as pumps, accumulators, valves, actuators, and piping is essential. The role also includes providing technical support across the equipment lifecycle, including supply chain, quality assurance, and Construction & Commissioning activities related to hydro generators.

Responsibilities and activities:
  • Prepare design calculations, functional notices and technical specifications for purchasing.
  • Evaluate offers and design from suppliers (strong linked to specification and contract) coordinating the technical interface with them.
  • Manage drawings (supported by draftsmen) and Bill of Material (BoM)s without supervision.
  • Support on his/her scope during its life cycle (purchasing, design, manufacturing, erection, commissioning, and project management)
  • Provide support on technical tendering activities (site survey included)


Qualifications / Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree (University) in Mechanical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Quebec (OIQ)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and French: The employee will be required to interact fluidly with colleagues in our other facilities across and/or outside of Canada, and who are generally unable to communicate in French and whose language at work is predominantly English.
  • 8 years minimum of relevant experience (after graduation)
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment screening, including but not limited, reference verification and background check.
  • Must have unrestricted Canadian work authorization, without requiring sponsorship.


Required knowledge and/or experience:
  • Experienced in sizing and specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. hydraulic power unities - pumps, accumulators, valves, actuators, pipes).
  • General knowledge of drawing standards and rules
  • Pro-activeness, sense of urgency, autonomy


Nice to have asset knowledge:
  • Knowledge about hydro power plants
  • Knowledge on equipment installation and testing


Desired Characteristics:
  • Ability to work in a global matrix team environment.
  • Availability to travel in North America occasionally, including by plane.
