Job Description Summary
This Lead Financial Analyst, Valuations & Pricing Analysis role is an opportunity to play a key part in supporting accurate, well-controlled investment reporting and will perform accounting, financial reporting and analysis functions. Responsible for applying financial analysis knowledge and judgment to activities that are diverse and complex.
The successful candidate will bring strong reporting and valuation experience, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to resolving complex issues while partnering closely with peers, internal business units, technology teams, and offshore support teams.
This is a lead role that provides guidance, oversight, and subject matter expertise and indirect people management responsibilities.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Extracts financial data from various accounting and information systems to perform appropriate analyses.
  • Analyzes financial data and defines relevant information; interprets data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial result.
  • Determines appropriate methodology to prepare information for use by others.
  • Helps staff to achieve performance standards. Develops and motivates staff to achieve effectiveness; mentors, trains and shares knowledge. Ensures staff demonstrates appropriate customer service attitudes.
  • Offers leadership and direction to others.
  • Exhibits a thorough understanding of business and analysis concepts.
  • Participate in monthly accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  • Recommends changes to processes to improve and achieve greater efficiencies.
  • Utilizes a thorough understanding of the business to proactively develop financial reports and complex models for forecasting, trending and results analysis.
  • Works effectively with other departments/divisions to ensure business issues are resolved for the success of the company.
  • Understands the flow of information, financial systems, appropriate reporting tools and uses that knowledge to troubleshoot problems, provide recommendations for system enhancements and work closely with IT teams to implement reporting solutions.
  • Effectively applies fundamental concepts; works on assignments of moderate scope and complexity, with limited oversight; makes recommendations for changes to procedures, and performs varied work, requiring some originality or ingenuity.
  • Supports the Valuation Manager in standing up a new valuation function within investment reporting department.
  • Supports the valuation of derivatives and oversees work of junior staff in pricing various derivatives positions.
  • Responsible for adherence to the company's framework of internal controls.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience, with degree. Advanced computer skills.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year supervisory experience. Solid knowledge of accounting/financial area preferred (for example, investments, insurance products, premium).
  • Solid knowledge of accounting/finance concepts relating to invested assets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, willingness to take on new projects, customer service approach, highly analytical.
  • Work effectively individually and within a team, organizational and prioritization skills, effective judgment.

The Salary for this position generally ranges between $97,000.00 - $116,000.00 annually. Please note that the salary range is a good faith estimate for this position and actual starting pay is determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid, remote) and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by applicable law.

Additionally, this position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.
