Candidates hired into this position may have the ability to work remotely.DESCRIPTIONReporting to the Assistant Director of Finance and Operations, the Lead Financial Analyst is responsible for coordination, management, and monitoring of the departmental financial and operational systems and resources in the area of research. With limited guidance, leverage modern data techniques to review disparate datasets, create forecast models, and present data and results as actionable information. In addition to other responsibilities as necessary, identified or assigned, support financial and operational budgeting, analytics, and reporting; financial controls; and data analytics processes. Successfully collaborate with personnel to support the achievement of departmental and divisional goals and objectives.
Prepare budget projections, cost analyses and forecasts to ensure availability of funding and to assist/advise Shared Resource (SR) Leaders in long range planning. Make recommendations to SR Leaders in addressing potential problems and solutions. Completes projects assigned by a diverse range of stakeholders, consistently demonstrating a positive attitude, strong professional commitment, and a collaborative approach. Provides leadership, guidance, and training to a team of Financial Analysts, while overseeing and reviewing their work to ensure quality and effective outcomes. Work closely with business leaders to improve cash flow through detailed analysis of A/R and the validation of prompt payment, especially for our Shared Resources.
Serves as the lead for the department's day-to-day operations, with a comprehensive understanding of fund flows and resource allocation to support the mission of the MCC. Provides significant financial oversight and stewardship, ensuring resources are managed effectively to minimize deficits and advance MCC's strategic objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Nine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five years of related experience/training.
- Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
- Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
- Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
- In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
- Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.

- Ability to function as a member of a team.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
