Location: Suitland, MD Hybrid
Proposal Opportunity: This position is being recruited in support of an active federal proposal. Employment is contingent upon contract award, final customer requirements, and position availability. Candidates selected during the proposal phase may be asked to provide an updated resume and other information required for proposal submission.
This opportunity is ideal for a senior architect with experience designing, modernizing, and integrating complex enterprise applications and systems across cloud, hybrid, and distributed environments. Depending on experience, candidates may support solutions architecture, systems architecture, or application architecture activities.
We are particularly interested in professionals who can help transform legacy environments into scalable, secure, cloud-ready solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design scalable architectures for complex enterprise applications and systems.
- Lead modernization and refactoring of legacy technology environments.
- Develop solution architectures incorporating cloud, microservices, APIs, containers, and event-driven technologies.
- Establish architecture patterns, standards, and technical roadmaps.
- Support cloud and hybrid/multi-cloud architecture initiatives.
- Evaluate technical requirements and translate them into practical architecture solutions.
- Partner with engineering, application development, infrastructure, security, and program teams.
- Develop architecture documentation, technical designs, and modernization recommendations.
- Support implementation of scalable and maintainable enterprise technology solutions.
Work Location
This position supports the
U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland under a hybrid work model. Candidates must be located in the DC/MD/VA area or be willing to commute to Suitland.
RequirementsWhat We're Looking For
- 15+ years of relevant IT and architecture experience.
- Significant experience designing or modernizing enterprise-scale systems.
- Senior-level experience in solutions, systems, application, enterprise, or cloud architecture.
- Experience with several of the following:
- Microservices
- Event-driven architecture
- Enterprise and cloud architecture
- Legacy application modernization and refactoring
- Spring Boot
- REST/SOAP APIs
- Kafka
- Docker
- Kubernetes/EKS
- Hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Cloud control planes and governance
- FedRAMP
- FinOps
Preferred Qualifications
One or more of the following is preferred:
- AWS, Azure, or GCP Professional-level Solutions Architect certification
- TOGAF
- CCSP
- CISSP
- DevOps certification or equivalent experience
