This position is a Pay Band C12

This position is with the Planning and Programs department.

As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.

Why does the job exist?

This position provides support to the following District 3 departments: Maintenance, Construction, and Design with drainage related tasks.

How does it get done?

The key responsibilities for the Lead Engineer role include the following: review and approve grading and drainage plans for permitting, conduct drainage engineering hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for STIP construction projects, review and prepare preliminary and final drainage reports and field investigations.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation, the traveling public, and the taxpayers of New Mexico.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has experience in the tallowing:

* Experience in highway design and/or highway construction projects.
* Experience in managing and prioritizing multiple projects.
* Experience in various drainage analysis software.
* Experience in reviewing developer plans and provide recommendations for approval.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant engineering discipline with licensure and four (4) years of engineering experience, one (1) of which must be as a Licensed Professional Engineer. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a driver's license. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Business reference check and driver's license verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Must be certified by the NMBLPEPS as a Licensed Professional Engineer in good standing within six (6) months of hire. Alternative or telework option is not available; it is an in-person position.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with in-state travel, exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage with extended periods of sitting.
