Full Job Description

This position has the primary responsibility for leading a team of engineers in Asset Management ensuring that the goals of the business are met. Specific responsibilities include: developing compliance driven transmission line and transmission substation programs and budgets, identifying process improvements with respect to development, approval and management of transmission projects and Thermal Ratings (NX-9) development, providing input to the development and review of all facility thermal ratings, developing best practices and strategies for developing the required design deliverables and milestones in accordance with the unique needs and non-standard timelines associated with compliance projects, developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with other functions thereby ensuring a high level of interaction and quality communications, and managing and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the team.
Essential Functions:

Capital Program Development:
  • Provide input to the development and prioritization of the Transmission capital budget, ensuring that Eversource's highest priority needs are met.
  • Support the initiation and funding of compliance driven capital projects
  • Participate in the development of the five-year, three-state Transmission Lines and Substation Capital Budget.
  • Support long-term development of asset strategy processes for lifecycle management, including the use of strategy documents and performance management tools to evaluate risk and prioritize assets

Thermal Ratings (NX-9) and Compliance Support:
  • Serve as main point of contact for Asset Management support for special projects and compliance driven project work (FERC, NERC, NPCC, ISO-NE)
  • Develop best practices and strategies for developing the required design deliverables and milestones in accordance with the unique needs and non-standard timelines associated with compliance projects
  • Provide quality control oversight and process improvement to the Asset Management organization
  • Implement tri-state processes for consistent collection and management of data to support substation strategies, programs, and processes
  • Responsible for coordinating NX-9 package creation and gathering all updated ratings from responsible engineering groups, acting as Eversource Thermal Rating Coordinator
  • Responsible for reviewing all data for Eversource and issuing NX-9 to ISO-NE according to OP-16 guidelines and submits final Date of Energization to ISO
  • Participate in audit preparedness and audit support
  • Support special initiative projects: BES list, CIP-002 support, Physical Security, etc.

Team oversight:
  • Supervise the performance of the assigned team. Develops employees through the use of performance management, coaching, and, as appropriate, rotational assignments
  • Support the development of organization plans and processes to drive overall efficiency and culture change


Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • Knowledge of substation power system planning, engineering, maintenance, and operations.
  • Strong background in process improvement.
  • Understanding of NERC, ISO-NE, and NPCC standards
  • A combination of strong technical knowledge and business acumen.
  • Understanding of the New England Regulatory environment
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team, applying effective leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of information technology and use of Eversource's office automation and information systems.
  • Ability to enhance internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to make formal presentations and translate technical information into terms that are meaningful to the audience.
  • Ability to develop and use collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

Education:
  • Requires a BS Engineering or BS Engineering Technology
  • An electrical engineering degree is preferred. An advanced degree is in Engineering or Business Administration is desirable

Experience:
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience is required. Experience in the technical, operational or engineering aspects of the electric utility industry and supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Experience in one or more aspects of the job is required and transmission experience is strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:
• Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
• Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$145,670.00-$161,860.00
